I saw "Quest for Camelot" this weekend. Gods around and Demons below,
it was so *BAD*! I just kept watching in stunned horror.

Spoilers follow...

The animation quality was spotty. Some characters were well done (the
griffen), some were inconsistant, and some bits of background animation
were so jerky that they brought to mind old HannaBarbara or Filmation
work.

The character styles were not well integrated. The bad guy looks like
he came out of a completely different movie. Kaylee's mom overacted to
the point of parody (How can you overact in ANIMATION!?). The blind
guy had no facial expresions whatsoever.

I did not care what happened to any of the characters at all.

Character motivation and evolution made no sense.

The bad guy had no reasons at all (I'm evil because I'm evil, and I do
things because I'm insane! (eye twitch)) How did he get to be a Knight
of the Table to begin with? Arthur (voiced by a very bored sounding
Pierce Brosnan) really needs to fire his human resources people. And
then his tactic for invading Camilot was out of character. He kills a
dragon with his bare hands, but decides to use a subtrifuge to get
into the city? And how did he learn that Lady WhatsHerFace had free
access to the gates even during wartime?

Kaylee and the blind guy falling in love. Expected, but COME ON
people, at least PRETEND to have a reason for it! And also, she was
shown to have been practicing "being a knight", but exhibits no skills
besides being athletic and persistant in the Forest. And then the bad
guy and his entire army can sneak up her IN THE MIDDLE OF AN OPEN
FIELD to snatch Excalaber out of her hand?

And then Kaylee gets knighted but not married, but she is wearing
a wedding dress? Jeezzzz...

And the in-jokes SUCKED. Such lamers as labeling the bad guy's magic
potion (with no explanation of origin) "ACME", and the two-headed
dragon (who WAS a decently animated, well motivated, and properly
evolving character) flying into battle to the Superman theme.

It was bad, it was BAD, it SUCKED.

It was badly written, badly directed, and badly animated.

And what's worse, it could have been so much better.
