The best solution is to play with people who play fair and don't take advantage
of small holes in the rules. If that doesn't work, then limit the number of
spells you can cast per turn.

Remeber, the characters should be picked randomly, so no one should get any
sort of benefit.

For those of you who like the game, I recommend the expansion set.

Oh, come on, half the fun of these games is finding (and plugging) the
holes that you mention. Why do you think that people still play
Dungeons and Dragons? B-)

For example, getting changed into a toad in Talisman is a crock of cow
patties, so we changed it to suit our style of play; the player on your
right picks three treasures for you to drop, and your character is
changed to stone for 3 turns. Sure, it's not "portable", but as long
as you don't mind different folks house rules, or agree to play
strictly by the published rules what's the big deal?
