Hard to say. Usually when i think of my best chocolate experience, i
think of times that involved chocolate ice cream with chocolate fudge
and chocolate brownies.

Belgian Nougat and for plain chocolate, I prefer Lind. Although there is a
shop around here that produces it's own chocolate, that's even better -
but much more expensive (a small 200g chocolate costs about 9.-
deutschmarks, that's about US$ 5). So I stick with Lind. Especially Lind
Excellence chocolate (both the 70% stuff, as the 30% cacou milk
chocolate).

My allergies just caught up with me. It takes a lot of chocolate for that to
happen, an hell of a lot. Thanks rone.

I think you'll find that's dogs.

Handy tip. Do not give your dog an easter egg if you would like it to
be alive on Easter Monday.

This does not, of course, apply to special dog chocolate bought in pet
stores.

One of my cats doesn't seem to care about plain chocolate, but he
loves chocolate doughnuts, cake, etc. (Also Twinkies.) The other one
isn't really interested in people-food for the most part.

I've seen plenty of chocolate in pet stores being sold for consumption by
dogs inappropriately. I've treated two cases of chocolate intoxication in
small dogs (a chihuahua and a yorkie) that had been fed chocolate covered
dog biscuits sold in a pet store. The world is FULL of lusers.

I believe you, for some reason. (I've become the feline drug pusher of
Cambridge by virtue of wondering around with a bag of catnip in my
handbag, so I wouldn't attempt to feed choclate to a cat anyway. I
assume catnip in moderation doesn't cause them any problems?)

And I'd naively assumed that pet stores would actually care about animal
welfare enough to make sure they weren't selling poison. *sigh*

Does this actually apply in the UK? I've seen more pet chocolate on
sale than I can count, but I was under the impression that our pet
food regulations are stricter than those over in the US.

While we're diverging from the topic, what about cats and fish? I
always understood that feeding fish to cats was likely to cause
urinary problems, but my vet recently advised me to try using tinned
herring to trick my cat into taking medicine.

I've also heard that you can't get health insurance for pets in the US?
Is this true? It seems surprising, if it is.

Followups set (net.pets, anyone?).

I'm not sure which I think is the best chocolate, however I can talk
about the best *hot* chocolate I've ever had.

There is a Belgian Cafe here in NYC that makes the most incredible hot
chocolate I have ever had. It is thick and rich and fantastic. Even
more wonderful, in the summertime they serve it over ice! Yum!

If you live in New York City or are coming to visit you really should
check it out. The cafe is called Petite Abeille and they have
several locations in the city. The one that I have been to is on
W. 18th St. just west of 6th Ave.

Oh, man. It sure is rough living in the sticks (Washington, DC) like
I do.

I used to make it to NY more often, but my heartthrob ^W friend there
moved to Pittsburgh...
