How can I get more core for my GNU emacs? I feel that it garbage collects *far*
too often (I'm running a reasonably hairy syste. I know about the PURESIZE
constant; is this all I have to change?

Take a look at the variable gc-cons-threshold. If your machine
is not a toy (or over-committed) you can go up to a few hundred
thousand and have your gcs spread more. Of course, that means that
when a gc hits, it takes longer.

Hem-what? Mind being more specific?
