I. What is USENET-II?
See <http://www.usenet2.org>. All rules described in those documents
apply to this hierarchy. For a greater understanding of the system as a
whole, see FAQs posted in other net.* hierarchies.
II. What is the purpose of net.education.*?
This hierarchy exists for discussion of educational topics. All phases of
education are on-topic in this hierarchy; initial discussion of a given
topic should take place in net.education.general. New subgroups will be
created only in response to demonstrated traffic in net.education.general.
III. What groups exist in this hierarchy?
Currently, only net.education.general exists. Once traffic justifies
further division, likely subgroups include those for primary, secondary,
and collegiate education, the craft of teaching, educational research,
professional education, conference announcements and calls for papers, and
so forth.
IV. What are the rules of this hierarchy?
A. All USENET-II rules apply.
* Don't crosspost outside of net.*.
* Don't crosspost to more than three net.* groups.
* No large binaries.
* See rules.txt at www.usenet2.org for a full list.
B. Net.education.* rules.
* No commercial postings.
* No jobs postings (either help wanted or job wanted).
* No homework posts.
* Please make Subject: lines clear.
The rules of net.education.* may not be the rules of other hierarchies.
Please be sure of those rules before you crosspost into other groups.
V. Who's in charge?
The hierarchy czar is Kate Wrightson <ka...@eyrie.org>. Kate is also the
co-czar of net.writing.*. For further explanation of Kate's professional
experience and interests, please ask, or see her webpage at
<http://www.eyrie.org/~kate>.
No sub-czars exist, mostly because there are no sub-groups.
VI. How can I help?
Post on-topic material, engage in conversation, refuse to participate in
flamewars. USENET-II thrives on civil discourse based on community.
VII. What's off-topic?
* Fraternity/sorority flamewars.
* College athletics (see net.sport.general).
* Homework requests.
* Job postings.
* Commercial posts.
Thanks, and welcome to net.education.*.
