Well, I suppose people have heard that:

(1) the Starr report is out, and

(2) it is creating a significant load on the net (or at least parts
thereof).

As evidence for #2 I cite: (a) http://www.washingtonpost.com/ has
slimmed down their home page, in particular removing many of the
graphics. According to a note at the bottom this is in order to save
their server or something although they don't specifically mention the
report. Personally I hope they stick with the new home page, but I
suppose that is too much to hope for; (b)
http://roadrunner.swansea.linux.org.uk/alan.shtml saying he is watching the
report "happily peak internet traffic". Amusingly enough, this site
is where I found out the report is now available, although this
morning I did read that it would be some time today.

Anyway, I'm off to browse through the report (looking for the sexually
explicit parts they've been warning us, of course). I may post again
once I've done so a bit. If people would find this hopefully dreary,
having heard quite enough about this matter already, I could probably
b talked out of it :-).

Fuck that. The Clinton rebuttal is much more readable.

cnn.com has done the same, as they did during the Afghanistan/Sudan
bombing (which caused a much higher load, in my perception).

Hey, has Mark McGwire hit a home run in Cincinnati yet?

Good point, there.

And if he has, will the Irish Times (and other papers that should,
perhaps, know better) give it as much coverage as they've been giving
to certain other stories that we are trying to change the subject away
from? :-).
