kernel-probs with 2.2.x -> no booting possible

Hi,
Trying to boot a 2.2.1 Kernel I encountered a problem.
It says "uncompressing kernel...OK, now booting the kernel". And
that's it. The system hangs. While compiling no errors were
reported. Even after recompiling it it still stops at that point.
I even tried 2.2.2 -> same result...any ideas?
