Ok, I have a 3Com PCI Fast-Ethernet 10/100 card in my RedHat 5.2 box. It
was finding the card just fine for almost a year, but now that I finally
get new networking equipment for setting up the house network and go to
connect my linux box up as the network server, it no longer finds the
ethernet card. I am at a loss for how to get it to recognize the card.

Any ideas?

Try the most obvious thing; take it out, blow on it, put it back.

Have you changed anything kernel-wise?

Sarah: Give me the child.
Jareth: Sarah, I have been generous till now and I can be cruel.
Sarah: Generous? What have you done that is generous?
Jareth: EVERYTHING! Everything that you wanted I have done. You asked that
child be taken. I took him. You cowered before me and I was frightening. I
have reordered time. I have turned the world upside down. AND I HAVE DONE IT
ALL FOR YOU! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations.

Rev. A or Rev. B? (It'll say on the card.) If it's a Rev. B, ditch it and
get a better card.

I'm having a similar problem with a 3C509B-TPO, Rev A. Any advice?

First thing to try in tracking something down is whether it shows up
in /proc/pci. If it doesn't you sort of go through the scripts in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and /var/log/messages and places like
that and that sort of thing, looking for specifically what step
failed, error messages, and so on.

At least, that is the methodical way....
