I have read that in sanctioned Checkers Tournaments, after
color has been decided by the pairing rules, the actual
opening used in the game is determined by drawing from
a "deck" of opening cards. The reason for this is that
otherwise the side moving first can ALWAYS bust the other
side, at least at championship human levels.
Any experienced tournament checkers players care to comment?
