I think I finally dug up some info on the new Magnavox CD players.
I know of 3 of them -- the CDB 650, CDB 560, and the CDB 460.

The CDB 650 we've all heard about. 4X oversampling, 16-bits/sample,
single-beam pickup, and more programmable/remote features than you'd
believe possible including the ability to store and recall programming
patterns.

The CDB 560 and CDB 460 seem to be versions of the 650 without all the
bells and whistles. The 460 is programmable, but has no memory like
the 650 and has no remote. The 560 is a remote version of the 460.
Both are 4X/16-bit oversampling machines like the 650.

I don't know what the filtering is like or what kind of mods can
be made to them (ala the 2041).

Price-wise, the 650 can be mail-ordered for $299. I don't know
what it retails for.

The 560 mail-orders for approx. $220 (I forget the exact price).
I've seen it retail for $289.

The 460 mail-orders for $176 and I've seen it retail on sale for
around $200 (although I can't say how widespread that price will be).

The 460 sounds nice and at that price, seems like a real bargain.

Note: All mail-order prices were quotes from Stereo Discounters.
For any Atlanta-ites reading this, the 460 is on sale at Allan & Dean
in Northlake Mall. All prices are in US dollars.
