I need a good red light for my observing table. Before I resort
to building one, can anyone recommend a currently available product?

Requirements:

1. Weighted or attached to a clamp for hands-free use, with a
long gooseneck or adjustable arm at least 1' long, for
use with large atlas pages

2. Brightness control--for matching to ambient light conditions
and conserving batteries

Would be nice:

3. Uses standard batteries, preferably D or lantern

4. Removable red filter--can be used as a trouble light

5. Spot/flood adjustment: wide area for locating stars,
narrow beam for destroying less dark adaptation

Here's an opening for you astro-entrepeneurs! If I get
any response at all, (a) I'll post a summary to the net,
and (b) I'll be surprised.
