Sept 26: Innovations of Yesteryear Festival at the Charles River
Museum of Industry & Innovation, as part of the Historic Waltham Days
This is only 10 days off. A number of us attended last year, and I
think I can say a good time was had by all, so can we do it again?
It looks like we will meet at the blacksmith's exhibit.
Suggestions for a meetup time (not that this actually worked last
year, so we'll probably just sort of bump into each other again)?
Here's the announcement that came in today's email:
The Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation
presents
Innovations of Yesteryear
Saturday September 26, 2009
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
You and your family are invited to one of the Boston area's most
unusual and exciting events - Innovations of Yesteryear, a one-day
festival produced by the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation
on Saturday, September 26, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This hands-on event will feature an eclectic, interactive assortment
of pre-1970 innovations. Ride on a miniature train, fire a Viking
catapult, type a letter to your Nana on a vintage 1920s typewriter.
Learn the traditions of egg blowing and origami. We'll have steam
engines in operation, putt-putt autos, musical instruments, sewing
machines, blacksmiths, antique sports & games, watches & clocks, and
more.
The event will take place - rain or shine - in Waltham's Landry Park,
on the scenic banks of the Charles River, right next to the museum.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children, seniors, and students;
children under 6 are free. Festival admission includes outdoor
exhibits and indoor museum galleries.
