So I went to print a document from my laptop today. However, it wouldn't print. It kept giving me an error message, then saying the USB port is a 3.0 and needs to be plugged into a 2.0. Now it's not connecting at all. It's showing up on my computer, but has zero information on the device... It just shows the device is on my computer in the settings.
Nothing has worked. After I uninstalled the Printer from the USB device, I restarted my computer. Then it did the automatic reinstall of the device when I plugged the printer back in. However, now it won't even show that it's connected. I can't even get information about the printer from the setting and printer app. It shows a picture of the printer and it's name, but when I click on it, there is no information available on it.
I'm really very frustrated, because I bought this printer less than a year ago. It has worked perfectly fine with this same laptop. Last time I used it was a few weeks ago, and it worked like a charm. I haven't done anything different on my laptop or with the printer so I'm at a loss for why it's not working now.
I understand that your HP DeskJet 2130 All-in-One Printer no longer works on your laptop. There is a message saying the USB port is a 3.0 and needs to be plugged into a 2.0. You have attempted to uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers and the issue persists. I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting this issue and have certainly done a good job.
Continue looking at the power properties of each USB hub. If the total Power Required exceeds the Total power available for the hub, then remove a device on that hub to lower the Power Required number.
There might be an issue with the USB port. Try connecting to a different USB port. If the USB device displays in Device Manager after connecting the cable to a different port, then uninstall and reinstall the USB device software driver.
I have an issue with my DeskJet 2130. Had it for a number of months and it worked fine, however recently it simply doesn't work as it should. Whenever I print, half way through the page gthe printer just stops, "thinks" for some time with the on/off button blinking, releases the sheet of paper it was printing on and then after a number of minutes (sometimes as long as 5) it just goes to being idle like nothing happened and I get an printing error from Windows.
What I did first, was using the HP Print and Scan Doctor that was bundled in the software, but came with nothing - all the parameters are marked green as being ok, and the test page is printed without any issues.
Followed your advice and tried to unplug the printer from power and then reconnect it again. No luck, tried printing a 3 page document and only got the first page after which the printer got "stuck" again (blinking power button) and after a minute got a pop up from Windows telling me that there was an error. Not much I could do from that point, canceled printing in the "Printing" window of Windows and had to wait over 10 minutes until the printer stopped "thinking" and gave me a half printed page and went idle again (power button light on).
Also looked at the firmware element you pointed me to, but as per the article - there is no firmware section available for the DeskJet 2130 model so I understand nothing's available for updating. From what I also saw, my drivers are updated as well since the only version is from May 2017.
Unfortunately the driver wipe and reinstall did not change how the printer behaves - still gets stuck on the first page of whatever I try to print, and after some time releases the page unfinished. After that, I get a Windows promt stating there was an error in the printing, but no error cause or code.

My dad recently bought a HP DeskJet 2130. We tried it and the print and copy functions well but when we tried to scan something, something popped out with "An error occured while scanning". I 've followed the steps on how to scan but still it didn't work. Help please.
Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you. I reviewed the post regarding assistance with scanning errors. I will be delighted to assist you here. Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat.
But no matter how hard and how many times I try, I can't scan anything. I tried to use "HP Print and Scan Doctor" and also I tried everything mentioned in the posts above with no result: Uninstalling the printer and installing the printer again, regedit, deleting the drivers etc.
My HP Deskjet 2130 is printing blank pages. The printer was working just fine when it was purchased, and I printed a few pages. I have not used it in about 4-6 months. Cartridges are showing to have enough ink in the printer management software (These are the original cartridges purchased with the printer) but still not printing either black or color. Even test print is also printing blank pages. Photocopies are coming out blank also, whether color or black and white. I have done a hard reset, but it has not worked. Printer is plugged directly into the wall.
We recently purchased a brand new HP 2130 All in one deskjet. Installed onto Windows 10 and it printed fine on two occassions. A few days later it now wont print anything. You can see the print job sitting in the queue and then it disappears into thin air! Have removed the printer from windows settings, unintsalled, deleted the software, restarted, reinstalled and re setup more than 5 times. Have spent hours searching on the internet and absolutely hours trying to resolve the issue. Used the HP print and scan doctor and nothing will resolve this issue. The laptop is an HP. There is plenty of ink in the cartridges which are genuine HP cartridges. I feel there is a corrupted system file somewhere? Is there a .dll file which could be corrupt and needs replacing? Have downloaded the software drivers from the HP Support site and these don't make any difference either. Frankly had enough. The printer itself does work because you can put a document on the flatbed scanner glass and it will scan and print, it just won't print from applications. Is the printer fully compatible with Windows 10??? There are no error messages either...........
I set this printer up on my other Windows 10 laptop (Acer) to determine if the printer was faulty and the printer works fine, but cannot get it to work on the HP Laptop which is where we need this printer to be working. Have also swapped out printer cables as a last resort.
Assuming your Windows Updates are current and that you have installed / updated Adobe Reader DC, the other check point would be to ensure the HP Drivers on the computer are updated / current.

Hello, I was having a clean install of 32-bit Windows 10 on a 64-bit processor. I was downloading HP DeskJet 2130 printer driver and the computer is able to detect my printer. However, when the computer was connecting the printer, the error message keeps coming out saying unable to connect, please try again as shown in the picture below. I have tried running diagnosis but no sign of error. I have tried using auto-update drivers using device manager, the computer says the system is not compatible with the driver version. I have tried unplug, uninstall drivers and printers and install again on different USB ports on the computer, even changing USB cords, it comes with the same results. I have tried HP Scan and Doctor application, all it suggest is just installing the driver without concrete diagnosis on the problem. I was stuck for days and some concrete advice or steps could really help, thanks.
No, same thing repeats itself. I have tried to using other printers the computer is still not able to detect. At last, I bought a new computer and everything works fine, probably the old computer is just too old to run such software. Anyway, thank you for you guys for providing some good suggestions. Hope others will find this thread useful as well.
