Hi

I'm trying to download some OA-level census data. NS only seems to allow this to be downloaded by regions rather than for the whole of England and Wales.

I'm trying to avoid having to use NDE by looking at adjusting the URL for the download page on NS directly. So far I've got to:

http://www.neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/dissemination/filesetSelection.do?step=5&datasetFamilyId=2570&filesetIndex=8

where datasetfamilyid is the dataset (which I can find by using http://www.neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/NDE2/Disco/GetDatasetFamilies?SubjectId=58)

and filesetindex is each of the files for the regions and england.

This gets me to the download page where I can click the xls link, but I was wondering if there is a way of entering the xls URL directly? I can't figure this out as the datasetfamily isn't specified in the download link.

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

If all you want is to download the data use Nomis, much better and simpler.

Thanks.

Yes nomis is great but it has a 1000000 cell limit which means only 4 variables at a time at England and Wales level for OAs.
