Hithere,
I am thinking of replacing an NF18ACV with a NF18MESH.
I need to cnfigure a second IP on the LAN interface. I have checked the NF18MESH emulator which appears to be considerably dumbed down when compared with my old NF18ACV.
I cannot see from the emulater how to add a second IP or set up config or routing for DMZ servers. How can this be done on the NF18MESH?
I dont want to purchase one and find it can't be configured with multiple LAN IP or DMZ servers.
Thanks in advance for any advice on this.
The old interface does still work on the latest firmware it's just not browseable. To get to it you have to manually paste the page you need into the URL bar. For proof visit the following address and it will take you to the "Sip Basic Settings" page where you would be able to enable/disable VoIP and codecs which you otherwise have no access to on the latest firmware normally
In order to get the address that you need for other pages visit find the page you want. Right-click the link and copy address Copy the part after the /NF18ACV/ and paste in the URL bar. With that, you will have access to the old settings which contain some of the additional otherwise non-accessible features like SRA and hiding SSID Broadcast.
Thanks for that info Douganater.
I tested that OK on my existing nf18acv however it is the nf18mesh emulater I am having trouble with. I cant cant see the pages I would need to use for that technque on the NF18Mesh to check if it would support what I am trying to achieve. As I alluded in the OP I am reluctant to buy one without knowing if it would do what I want to achieve.
Thanks. Not sure what Page it would be on. It was in the Advanced LAN setup and routing pages of the 18ACV
but no idea if or where on the 18mesh.
I am tempted to give up on it and just get a NL1901ACV. From their emulator it looks like that one supports what I want as its gui is like the old nf18acv.
Thanks for that Crusey and Douganater.
I am now interested to see if the DMZ host config is available on the NF18MESH.
The page concerned on the 18ACV is under Advanced Setup, NAT, DMZ Host.
Is this there on the NF18MESH ?
Ah Thanks. It looks like it will do what I want.
Now all I have to do is decide if I want to buy one of them and suffer with the hidden configs or go with the NL1901ACV that seems to have the old GUI that I am familar with.
The Null-modem emulator allows you to create an unlimited number of virtual COM portpairs and use any pair to connect one COM port based application to another. Each COM port pair provides two COM ports. The output to one port is the input from otherport and vice versa.
The Null-modem emulator can be used to provide serial interface for device emulators. In this case the device emulation program uses one port of the pair andthe other port can be used by Windows or DOS application thatrequires a COM port to communicate with the device. For example, to send/receive faxes over IP you can connect WindowsFax application to t38modem (T38FAX Pseudo Modem ,part of the t38modem project ) via virtual COM port pair.
The Null-modem emulator can be used to provide serial interface for COM port redirectors. For example, with the com2tcp (COM port to TCP redirector, part of the com0com project ) you can communicate via serial interface with the TCP/IP servers. If you feel that com2tcp is what you need but can't find some required features (for example RFC 2217 support) then try use hub4com instead.
With the hub4com (HUB for communications, part of the com0com project ) it is possible to handle data and signals from a single serial device by a number of differentapplications (for example, several applications can share data from one GPS device). It's also possible to use the real serial ports of remote computer like if they exist on a local computer.
Classic99 was formerly the'Ami99 Emulator'.
It is currently in version 3.1a2, and has been updated to include newROMs, 'magic' disk ability has been added so things likeEditor/Assembler can have their support files available, a menu forROM/system selection has been added, and it now had more reasonabledefaults for today's machines.
On some computers, V9T9 doesnot detect the processor if it is a 386 or higher. To remedy this,Kerry Lee High Jr. has removed the processor check from v9t9.exe. Ifyou've been having problems, downloadv9t9fix.zip, unzip it, andreplace v9t9.exe with v9t9fix.exe.
I don't own a Mac, so I have nopersonal experience with this emulator but it apparently uses the samefile types (Disk and ROM) as the PC version of v9t9. The author statesthat this version is incomplete and he is not certain when he will makea final release.
IanGledhill has written a TomyTutor emulator that runs in Windows. For more information, check outCameron Kaiser's Little Orphanweb site or the TomyTutor Yahoo Group (source codeavailable here). The emulator is version 1.0 and requires the SDLLibrary in order to run. Be sureto check out Ian's retro-computer website at

We however hit a problem with a CR1000 which I replicated on a cr800. The modem connects fine to the CSI/O port on both loggers but wont connect to the rs232. on the rs232 we are dropping the sc932A and replacing with a null modem cable.
I have the modem set to 9600 baud matched on the loggers, I have done some tests using the watchdog terminal window and can see the traffic on the csi/o and cr300 connections but not on the others, thinking a flow control or wake up issue?
with a term emulator i connect to the modem... if I type in the term window I can see the characters in the Watch window for the logger ME port.. so I know the data path is working, also know the rs232 is working (for PC)
chevrolux: I guess the thing would be just needing to match the profiles on NZ... 17a and 8b.
Most of these units use 30a (I think) so they can do 100Mbps over the short links they're designed for.
However these units i think if i remember right allow you to select the band plan using the dip switches on the back. I might be thinking of the SNR margin setting. I imagine you could set it to CO mode and your plan should work. Even if the bandplan isnt correct, most CPE modems will automatically detect it anyway so if it works with this modem in CO mode then it should work on the chorus network.
If you want to PM me your phone number I could test this for you - I have a few of them sitting in the workshop. The guys i took over the MDU networks from were adamant that we needed to use the netsys CPE with the dslams but i found a netcomm NFV18 works fine in bridge mode so to tidy up the wiring at customer sites we are now just replacing them with a standard vdsl router rather than the separate vdsl bridge + ethernet router
Not all modems will speak to them as it's not really what they're designed for and you have no way of configuring the bandplan or modulation used, so wouldn't really consider it the most appropriate solution for what sounds like testing of production equipment rather than a simple test lab.
I'm trying to write a simple application that attempts to receive SMS messages and handle them. I've followed several tutorials but I'm getting nowhere, when I send a SMS to the emulator, the Intent never seems to get fired.
I'd really appreciate some guidance with what's going wrong. I'm just getting into Android development but I think I have my head wrapped around (most of) it. While monitoring the emulator's logcat, the log events never come up, and debugging breakpoints are never hit, so I have a feeling it's somewhere in my intent filter.
