Following the success of Tagaru (2018), the copyrights of the Tamil remake version were sold to Tamil director M. Muthaiya who has signed to remake the movie with Vikram Prabhu.[1][2][3] Sri Divya was signed on to play the leading roles, which marks Vikram Prabhu's second collaboration with Sri Divya after Vellaikaara Durai (2014). It also marked the first film project for Sri Divya in four years after her last Tamil film Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thorae (2017). Tamil remake is titled as Raid.[4]

M. Suganth of from The Times of India gave 1.5/5 stars and wrote that "This is the kind of Tamil film that doesn't even pause for a moment to consider the many extra-judicial killings that its protagonist does".[6] A critic from Vikatan wrote that "All in all, this 'raid' keeps you running in search of a headache balm of hitting someone in the name of screenplay, speaking ridiculous lines, then putting on a song and doing the same thing over and over again".[7]

On Friday, the police conducted a raid on the office premises of a clothing store owned by actor Kavya Madhavan who is also Dileep's wife. The two of them got married in November 2016. The office is located in Mavelipuram in Kakkanad, Kochi.

According to sources, the raid began at 11 am and ended by 2 pm. A team led by a circle inspector of the investigating team probing the abduction and alleged sexual assault case conducted the raid in utmost secrecy, and it came to light only on Saturday.

Sources say that the premises of the e-commerce business, Laksyah, which was started in June 2015 by Kavya, came under the scrutiny of the police because Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the sexual assault case, had mentioned a shop in Kakkanad in a letter that he had allegedly sent to Dileep.

The police have also questioned advocate Pheney Balakrishnan who has claimed that two persons had approached him for securing bail for Suni. Pheney had reportedly mentioned that one of the two persons had referred to a certain "madam" during the conversation.

On Wednesday, Dileep and director Nadirshah were questioned for over 13 hours by the police. While Dileep maintained that the interrogation was regarding the complaint he had given about Pulsar Suni allegedly blackmailing him, the police confirmed to the media that he had been taken in for questioning regarding his alleged involvement in the abduction and assault case.

KOCHI: A black money transaction of Rs 225 crore has been found in the Malayalam film production sector. The unaccounted money was found during the raid conducted by the Income Tax Department. From December 15, the Income Tax Department raided the houses of superstars and leading producers associated with the Malayalam film industry.

It is reported that the filmmakers have hidden around Rs 72 crores which should reach the exchequer as taxes. Irregularities have also been identified in transactions when people including prominent stars bought properties abroad. Actor Mohanlal's statement was recorded yesterday by the Income Tax Department.

The investigation focused on the financial transactions and production companies of people active in the production field of Malayalam cinema such as Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj, Listin Stephen, Anton Joseph, Anthony Perumbavoor.

Some stars and producers have invested heavily in Dubai and Qatar. It has been identified that the foreign money transaction was under the guise of the overseas distribution rights of the films produced by them. The Income Tax Department is continuing to verify the foreign bank account details of some of them. Some Tamil filmmakers have also been identified as investing in Malayalam films under benami deals.

It is hinted that the income tax department is conducting the raid on the complaint of tax evasion. The raid started at various places from 8 am. The income tax department has found that many of the prominent YouTubers in the state have an annual income of Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore. However, the officials suspect whether they are paying tax according to their income. Reports said they will also examine documents related to financial transactions.

An article published on 6 November 2020 in The Hindu, said that "a crackdown by the Income Tax Department on the Thiruvalla-based Believers Eastern Church has allegedly brought to light several irregularities".

A Mathrubhumi report, which had photos from the raid resembling the viral images, said that the IT probe found that the church received Rs 6,000 crore in foreign aid in the last five years. However, the report also said that the money recovered by the department was Rs 14.5 crore.

Conclusion: The claim that Rs 7,000 crore was seized during a raid at Believers Church in Kerala is misleading. An IT raid conducted in November 2020 recovered approximately Rs 6 crore, according a press release by department.
