Hi All,

The chain snatching menace continues in our locality.

On Tuesday Sep 9 2014 morning there were two chain snatching incidents in an half hour period.

Incident #1: Happened around 0730 hrs in subbaiyyanaplaya when a lady while drawing the morning rangoli was pushed and the chain snatched.

Incident #2: Happened to my mother in HRBR 1st block when a person approached her on the pretext of asking for directions; he was deliberately whispering which made my mother get closer to him and her mangalsutra was snatched.

In both cases there was another accomplice waiting on his 2 wheeler to help in the escape.

We have filed a complaint with the Police Inspector Banaswadi and will follow up with a letter from me(being a  member of NERWA).

Regards,

Dear Sir,
This incident happened in OMBR layout that too in front our house with my daughter at around 7pm when she was returning home after shopping.
On approaching Cops they informed us to have our own policing.
This is for your information.

Dear all,

The police is too overstretched and unwilling. Self help and taking precautions is the best option available. Secondly we must deny the opportunity to the perpetuation of this crime. Following steps may help:-

   1. Avoid wearing gold ornaments while taking a walk or to the work place.

   2. Do not entertain any strangers who try to draw your attention.

   3. Question strangers or inform police of any suspicious people lurking in the
       area.

   4. Do not open doors or even the compound gate to any strangers/sales
men/women.Keep the front door locked or bolted from inside.

   5. Avoid sleepy lanes/bye lanes during walks.

   6. Remain alert and avoid use of mobile phones while walking on the roads.

Worse than losing the valuables is the trauma that one has go through from injuries suffered by our ladies. I do not think police has made a single arrest so far & their tactics/methodology employed are archaic. They drive around in jeeps with blaring sirens that only forewarns the criminals to escape.
