Im having the same issue with my wireless X1 controller as well. It will change the button layout on the screen as if it can detect it but it will not respond to any inputs made by the controller. Keyboard and mouse works just fine for now.

I'm sorry for the control issues you're running into. I put in a report for this so the team can investigate this. I was curious if the game recognizes the controllers while they're plugged in and not in wireless mode or if they still have the issue.

I also cannot use my gamepad I use with no problems for every other game. I use a Wii U Pro controller with a mayfly adapter that makes it recognized as a 360 controller. Like I said, it works fine with every othger game I have but this game wont recognize it. Really, really disappointing that it works for low budget garbage games but not this.

Any update on this? I've tried it with a wired Xbox One and Xbox 360 controller and neither worked. The same controllers work flawlessly in many other games. I am playing the game with Gamepass if that makes a difference. I've tried running it in full screen. I've tried closing steam which other's reported as helping. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the controller. I've tried rebooting the system. Nothing seems to help.

Mine wasn't working when connected via bluetooth, even though other games recognized it. It did work when wired via USB.

I ended up deleting and reinstalling my laptop's bluetooth/wifi driver, and now it works.

I assume this still hasn't been fixed yet, I've just got a Legion 5 Pro and started the game to find the controller doesn't work, also is there a issue with save games too? Luckily I've only just started the game and when I came back to it today I had to start a new game again as the Load Game option was missing.

July 2022 and keep happening, you can play a while but when you change the windows o let it for a while it stuck,if you press a key in the keyboard it show the keyboard layout in screen after if you press a button it shows the button layouts on screen but not respond, you need to restart the game with the keyboard and mouse.

I have an Xbox series X controller connected to my PC, it works with every other game on every other store (that has controller compatibility) including standalone games. It is picked up as an xbox controller the button maps show as A,B,X,Y, i can use the triggers fine etc... basically i have full functionality.

Then comes EA desktop (why am i not surprised it only happens with EA?).... It doesn't matter what game i play through EA Desktop. The controller either doesn't work at all or will only work as a "generic" controller. and show as button 1,2,3 etc... and also wont allow me to use the triggers.

Prime example is burnout paradise (does it with other games too). If i go in to the controller options it will show that its detected an xbox controller but pressing buttons on the controller at the menu or in the game does absolutely NOTHING. the only way i can get it to work at all is by Mapping the buttons manually then a generic controller will show in the options but when i press to use say button A for accelerate, it will put it as button 1. I cant use the triggers for anything if i pull them nothing happens and it wont assign it to a function.

@boznoI think im having the same issue. Playing games that I launch through EA app with series x controller, button mapping is all out of whack and cannot be remapped. I've read there is a fix where you can manually add the game to Steam and launch game in steam big picture mode, do some controller settings mumbo jumbo and also terminate all origins tasks in windows to make it work. There are a couple of instructional videos out there for it.
However I cant even do that workaround because Im playing EA games through gamepass ultimate, which requires me to install and play EA games through their buggy failure beta app, not origins. I cant run battlefield 2042 through steam because it forces the EA launcher to open the game even if i add it to steam. I also cant get any EA Play games through origin because I only have access to them via gamepass ultimate. Ive only been pc gaming foor a week and already hate EA with a passion for lack of ability to develop playable games and unwillingness to resolve the bigger issues with their software first

Go into steam settings > Controller Click on general controller settings and select xbox config support and xbox extended feature support. Reset your PC when prompted. Load steam and connect your xbox wireless controller. Launch EA Pass and select the game you want to play. Make sure you don't launch it from xbox game pass but EA Pass itself. Go into the in-game settings and switch form keyboard to controller.

Had an issue where the xbox wireless controller would connect and work through bluetooth but steam was not recognizing it. "No device detected" or something phrased like that. The device worked with xbox game pass games ran through the app so it was working but steam would not recognize it. Tried everything under the sun to get it to work using every method proposed by every website/youtube video.

The fix was to go into steam big picture mode > controllers settings > and at the bottom of the page a button called "unhide devices". You need to spam this button like it owes you money. Take all your frustration out on it that has built up over the hours you've spent on this issue. It will just "all of a sudden work". I don't know why but it does.

When it comes to playing games via Microsoft's beta game streaming service, once known as Project xCloud, you'll need a a phone up to the task. There are also many titles to choose from, and in terms of controllers, there are plenty out there that will do the trick. These are our picks for the best controllers around.

The premier option when it comes to true mobile gaming, the Razer Kishi turns your phone into a Switch-like machine. When not in use, it folds up small, perfect for shoving in a bag. It also has a USB-C pass-through, so you can charge your phone while you play. Overall, the quality is good with solid, clicky buttons and great ergonomics. This is one of the best controllers for Xbox Game Pass.

The Gamesir X2 controller is one of the best on the market at the moment and wowed us in our review of the controller. Not only is it incredibly versatile, but it makes for an incredibly lightweight, solidly built companion no matter what platform you're trying to play on. With your phone clipped in, the Gamesir X2 almost mirrors a Nintendo Switch, and should play extremely easily for any players already familiar with Nintendo's console.

Got a hankering for a retro-style controller for your modern gaming needs? Then look no further than the new SN30 Pro from 8BitDo. Sporting that classic look with a contemporary Xbox theme, the SN30 Pro is also the best value on our list today. It includes a clip for mounting your phone to the controller, up to 18 hours of battery life, and remappable buttons. It's truly a steal of a deal.

If you're looking for one of the best bangs for your buck, then look no further than the SteelSeries Stratus Duo. It can link up to your PC with the included adapter, but we're more interested in its Android gaming capabilities. It's quite a good controller with excellent build quality. You will need the extra clip (sold separately) if you want to attach your phone, though.

When talking about Xbox Game Pass, you can't really go wrong with the new Xbox Core controller. It's one of the best ergonomic options on the market, and there's a reason why you see so many copycats. It pairs flawlessly with your phone, feels good in the hand, and just works. There's not a whole lot else to say about this controller, but even though it's not the best value, it's still an excellent option for everyone.

PowerA isn't sitting out on the Xbox cloud gaming launch. No, it's coming right out the gate with one of its heavy-hitters. The MOGA XP5-X Plus is similar to the Xbox One controller, but it packs an included clip and a power bank for the ultimate mobile gaming experience. For what you get, it's a pretty great deal, especially if you like the look and feel of the Xbox One controller and want that extra Xbox aesthetic.
