Hi, I'll be coming in April, and I have several games I can bring.

I'm thinking of trying to bring a Parlor Larp or two to run. These are
games written by a friend of mine. They're one-shot larps for 4-8
players that run for a single session in one room. Probably the most
innovative aspect is that every character comes with a list of
questions for the player to think about and answer for themselves
before play begins, so not only is the Situation charged up for drama,
but every player is primed with positions on the issues relevant to
their character. (John has some more info on parlor larps here:
http://www.darkshire.net/jhkim/rpg/parlorlarps/ )

The three I'm thinking about bringing are described below. Would
people be interested in trying one or more of these, and which ones?
-Albert

---------
Snow White
Classification: Atmosphere, Relationships, Morality. Dark 5. NPC 3.
DIR 2. DC.
Genre: Drama

Of all traditional fairy tales that were adapted and censored for
children in modern renditions, Snow White has perhaps undergone the
most change. Today's bedtime story of an innocent princess, seven
happy listtle men and true love forgets the original undertones of
desperation, passion, poverty, and sexuality. One cannot tell the true
story of Snow White without going back to a time in which men were
valued only for their size and stamina, and women only for their
beauty and ability to bear children; a time in which glass was so rare
that a polished mirror was truly a frightening thing of magic.

Most of the original characters and a few new ones are present in this
adaptation of the older, darker, and more vivid story of Snow White.
It is set in the hours before the execution of the Queen and
subsequent wedding of the Prince and Princess. A time of last chances
and new beginnings.

-----------
The Queen of Spades
Classification: Discovery, Relationships. Dark 2. NPC 5. DIR 1. NC.
Genre: Mystery

Marissa Islington is a powerful and ruthless woman with almost as many
enemies as criminal connections. A group of these enemies wake to find
themselves trapped on a boat in the middle of nowhere with each other,
a suspicious letter, and Marissa herself. Nobody knows how they got
there or what will become of them when morning comes.

As the night goes on, murder will be committed and secrest revealed.
Everybody has a motive and a past they thought they'd left behind.

------------
Eridanus Rising
Classification: Discovery, Atmosphere. Dark 3. NPC 4. DIR 1. AC.
Genre: Modern Fantasy and Mythology

The fantastically wealthy and eccentric Henry Delacroix is throwing
his sixtieth birthday party in his vacation home in Antarctica,
inviting the handful of associates who can actually stand to be around
him. The party proceeds at the expected level of awkwardness until a
seemingly trivial event forces the host to reassess his priorities and
rapidly changes everything.

That night, old crimes will resurface and fallen souls will rise in
rebellion. Guests suddenly trapped in an isolated parlor must untangle
the old man's life and his disturbing theology in order to take sides
in a cosmic battle. Their successes and failures will decide the fate
of the gods and the future of the world.

I'd be most interested in Eridanus Rising, but I'd also
be interested in the other two -  I've played the other two
before, and they're a lot of fun, and I could easily play
either of them again.

Here are the classification codes explanations...

Priorities: Which of five major elements are present as priorities in the larp.
A: Atmosphere. A particular mood or feel to the larp
D: Discovery. IC unknowns and the need to discover them
M: Morality. Moral dilemmas and complicated decisions
R: Relationships. Complicated relationship dynamics
S: Strategy. Making strategic decisions in pursuit of goals

Scales: A number from 0-5, 5 highest.
Dark: The prevalence of depressing or disturbing elements
DIR: General complexity and difficulty of Director role
NPC: Amount of effort the Director spends playing an NPC

Content Advisories:
NC: Normal content. Teenagers and older.
AC: Adult content. Contains normal adult content.
DC: Disturbing content. Contains themes or elements that some adults may not be comfortable with. Consider the comfort level of everyone in group before playing.

All of these sound interesting, I'm most interested in the Snow White
retelling. I really like myths, legends, and folktales, and the
different versions of the tales are some of the most interesting
parts.

I would definitely be interested in these. The Queen of Spades speaks
to me most but I'd be willing to try any of them.

Because Nancy has it in her request list I've added Sorcerer to my
"could bring" list. Like a demon called from the nether-realm, I am
incapable of refusing calls to play Sorcerer. It really does make a
*terrible* one-shot game but if there's enough interest in playing it
I will try to come up with something that will work better than the
last Nerdly Sorcerer attempt.

Would anyone be up for a two-shot of Sorcerer? Jesse, is a two-shot
preferable?

cheers,

Nancy

P.S. I *loved* the last Sorcerer game; part of why I want more. :)

I would be up for a two shot. Jesse, this sounds like a good opportunity to do a couple APAP Sorcerer episodes.

and she may join the list soon as well.

Well, in an ideal world this is what I would do. Once I knew who was
in the event I would want to co-ordinate with those players via email
and do character creation (The game doesn't sing unless the players
truly own their characters). Then I would show up planned with the
tightest situation I could think of for those characters but we'd be
ready to play out of the gate. I'd like to see how far we got with
just one session (probably in a scheduled slot) and then maybe use one
of the pick up slots for a second session if we needed it.

But if that's not feasible there are other solutions.

Jesse,

Is a week enough lead time to make that happen? As I mentioned, the final schedule will go out a week before the event. Also, I can keep an eye out towards scheduling it for the Friday night slot, giving you the most opportunity for followup

I would be up for this! Especially if, as Albert says, we can get it
scheduled for friday.

If we want to do the character creation via email thing a week lead
time should be fine assuming people are fairly attentive to their
email.

Also, if this happens and people request other games from my list feel
free to give me a second game to run in one of the other scheduled
slots.

I noticed Nancy made a request for M1244. I'm always up for this game
and I have a decent set of laminated materials for it.

I added The Drifter's Escape to my list. I had wanted to put it on
the list before but was having trouble ordering it and so was unsure
whether I would be able to obtain a copy before the event. However,
my copy arrived today.

Hi! I'm not adding anything formal to the Bring Game page. Rebecca
will be almost 6 months by the time Nerdly happens, but she still
nurses frequently and likes having her mommy around, so I'm not
playing regularly scheduled games. (Well, maybe just one.)

What I am planning is to bring some roleplaying poems--probably as
many as I can get my hands on, but I'm not sure how many are out
there. Does anyone else know much about this?
