Here is information regarding upcoming events at Nepean High School:

May 10 – 12 – Nepean’s 90th anniversary celebration

Alumni and members of the Nepean community past and present are invited to help Nepean celebrate this big milestone. It’s not too late to register – please check out the full schedule of events at: https://sites.google.com/a/nepeanhs.ocdsb.ca/nepeanhs90/. Everyone is welcome to the commemorative tree planting ceremony taking place at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 10. Mayor Watson and other dignitaries will be present to help kick off the weekend of celebrations.

May 21 – School Council Meeting

The next Nepean School Council meeting will take place Tuesday, May 21 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm in the library. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. At this meeting, there will be a special presentation by Sophia Dinnissen, one of the lead teachers for our Grade 9 integrated Science-Geography curriculum. She will present on how this program helps students understand science in the context of geographical-ecological factors. We will also be discussion key upcoming vacancies on Council next year, thanks to numerous “graduating” parent members.

May 23 – Staff Appreciation Breakfast - Donations requested

A cherished NHS tradition, the annual staff appreciation breakfast, will take place from 7: 30 – 9:00 am on Thursday, May 23. Coordinator Dilia Mayost welcomes any parents who would like to contribute time and/or food to the event; please contact her at dilia.aya...@rogers.com. More information about specific requirements for the event will be provided in the coming weeks.

Presentation for Parents - May 2, 2013

The OCDSB’s Parent Involvement Committee’s Speakers Series continues with a presentation on bullying prevention by University of Ottawa Professor Dr. Tracy Vaillancourt who is also the Canada Research Chair for Children’s Mental Health and Violence Prevention. There will be an opportunity to ask your questions following her presentation which will take place Thursday, May 2, 7:00 p.m. –  9:00 p.m. at the Hampton Inn and Conference Centre, 200 Coventry Road. There is complimentary parking and everyone is welcome to attend.
