Special Event – A Date with Diversity – April 17
Interested parents are encouraged to participate in another important upcoming event. A Date with Diversity will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2013, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Hampton Inn. The theme for the evening is: Connecting Communities for Student Success. A Date with Diversity is one of the major diversity initiatives in this year's strategic plan to expand professional development and training. To this end, we have invited community and staff guests to share their personal journey and insights into our ongoing conversation: what are the conditions necessary to foster an equitable and inclusive culture to support learning, well-being and a sense of belonging for the OCDSB community? Our staff, student and community participants will then have an opportunity to ask our special guests questions about their life experiences as it relates to different dimensions of diversity. Community organizations or agencies will also be invited to share resources that they believe could enhance the District’s capacity to serve an increasingly diverse student and parent population. A Date with Diversity is being undertaken in partnership with the Human Resources Department, Diverse Workforce Strategy, Lead the Way, Inclusive Safe and Caring Programs, and the Advisory Committee on Equity. For additional information or to register, please contact Jacqueline Lawrence at jacquelin...@ocdsb.ca or 613-596-9211, 8819.
Thanks,
Barbara Mitchell
