Impt Fundraiser for Boyce Family Trust (young NHS alumni)

Dear friends, parents, colleagues and students,
This coming weekend, Ottawa will host the National Capital Race Weekend and I will be running my first full marathon on Sunday, May 27. Twenty months ago, on the final approach to a milestone birthday with some extra weight to lose and way out of shape, I made a promise to myself to run a full marathon by age 50. Well, here we are 20 months later and it is now time to seal the deal.
As race day approaches, it occurred to me that I could add another purpose to my quest and perhaps make a small difference to people in need. This year, Nepean High School has embraced a family support fund raising initiative to help the Boyce family, who lost their father years ago and recently their mother as well. So here's the deal:
I'm officially launching the GUESS JF'S MARATHON FINISHING TIME contest. To enter you need to do the following:
- Make a minimum pledge of $5 for students, $10 for adults, and chose a time including seconds, e.g., 3:25:48 for 3 hours, 25 minutes, 48 seconds (please note this is NOT a hint as to my goal time - aim for somewhere between 3.30:00 and 4:30:00).
- Cash or cheque payable to Nepean School Council sent to NHS administrative office. Deadline is this Thursday at 12:00pm.
- The person who gets closest to my actual time (above or below) wins 20% of earnings, the Boyce family trust gets the remaining 80%.
- Hint #2: I will not qualify for the Boston Marathon!
A list of participants will be posted on the NHS website with their predicted times. My official finishing time will be available on http://sportstats.ca/searchResults.xhtml?firstname=JF&lastname=FAUTEUX after the race on Sunday morning (May 27, 2012).
