Here are a few items of interest for parents:
The Learning Disabilities Association of Ottawa Carleton (LCAO-C):
The LCAO-C invites all interested parents to join their Parent Support/Education Group, intended for parents and guardians of children and young adults with Learning Disabilities (LDs) and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD). The group’s next meeting is Thursday November 1st, 2012@7pm at the LDAO-C, 60 Percy St (Corner of Bronson and Gladstone, inside the McNabb Park Public School beside the McNabb Community Centre). The topic for this meeting will be: Transitioning from Elementary School to High School for kids with Learning Disabilities. Free childcare is available at the meeting. For more information, please visit http://www.ldaottawa.com/
A Knight at Nepean:
Parents are also encouraged to buy their tickets as soon as possible for the upcoming annual School Council social event/fundraiser ‘A Knight at Nepean’, taking place on the evening of November 15. Tickets are available on line here. If you are unable to attend but would like to support this event, please click on the "donations" link on the left side of the ticket page. The evening will feature a delicious meal from Ishina Distinguished Indian Cuisine, a Bollywood theme, a cash bar, an auction with lots of terrific items and a chance to socialize with other NHS parents and staff. This is our one & only school fundraiser and it's a lot of fun, so please come on out! The funds raised help provide Nepean’s 1,100+ students with a stimulating, rewarding and effective high school experience and ensure that no student goes without.
If you can donate an item or two for our silent auction - ie 2 hours of garden help, your famous cake, a sail on your boat, a bicycle tune-up, a dinner cooked at someone’ s home, a stay at your cottage or ski chalet, a painting, music lessons, genealogical research, renovation consultation, a skating party, help with taxes, life coaching - please contact parent Neil Knudsen (613-291-9959).
If you want to help out with Knight at Nepean in any way (planning, night of, etc), please contact NHS parent Jackie Barwin (613-729-8027).
Next Nepean School Council meeting:
The next school council meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 20 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm in the school library. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
