Is there a way that we could develop a tool which would say that this page is in Nepali :)
For instance when you use chrome, and open Nepalinews.com, or any other Nepali website, it says "This page is in Hindi, do you want to translate this?"
We could correct them and say that this page is in Nepali.
I have seen some folks posted Firefox plugins for Nepali and 
I think we have some great programmers who can create plugins in Firefox.
I don't know, Just an Idea that struck in my mind.

It's not so much a matter of an alphabet, as of grammar complexity.
Western European languages like Italian and French and Eastern
European languages like Hungarian and Polish are written in the Latin
alphabet, but they have very complicated grammar, so writing a
spelling engine for them is much more challenging than doing it for
English. Languages of India should be quite close to it in terms of
complexity, despite the different writing systems.

And above all, it's a matter of resources - French is quite complex,
but there are much more resources (read: money) for it than for
Telugu. But that's exactly why i propose everybody to at least try to
use the existing tools: simply using the tools will help to uncover
mistakes and missing words and fix them.

I'm really glad that we have a real spelling tool developer on this list :)

Dear All,

What a co-incident that I was also thinking about the same topic while imagining about Nepali translation tool especially on the base of google translation in chrome.

I have thought some topics

1) Devanagari script in the first step 2) Sentence structure in the second step will be the easiest way to recognize Nepali language.

If any sentence is ended with some certain word we can easily know it is Nepali. e.g. ............ हो।, ............ छ।, ............ थियो।, ............ भयो।, ............ छन्।, ............ थिए।

We can analyse the commonly used features of Nepali writing.
