My creature is a predator and hostile habitant of the planet Perseus known by locals as Dergůl which means gut ripper. They are smart, fast and very dangerous. They live in dark places, such as caves, which is the reason for their specific light skin and red eyes.

I would be grateful for any identification of the attached creature. I am a lay-person in this field but my lay-interest suggests this may be a free-swimming sea slug. An expert opinion would be much appreciated.

Note - since your site is presumably of international significance I recommend use of the international date format as defined in ISO 8601, ccyy-mm-dd. This is used significantly and increasingly within scientific and industrial sectors

Dear Richard,
This is indeed an 'oceanic' nudibranch, but as you will see from Irina Roginskaya's message [#16534] she has raised the question of just how we should categorise its lifestyle - is it free swimming, free-floating, pelagic, or planktonic? I guess it depends on how important we consider its attempts at locomotion. I should mention it is a specialised aeolid, Glaucus atlanticus. If you look at the Fact Sheet, and the other relevant messages attached below, you should find plenty of information on the species.

Concerning your comment about the date. The Forum now receives approximately 250,000 visits a month from over 130 countries, so yes I think the site is of international significance. Your message from Australia and Irina's from Russia on the same subject illustrates the point quite well.

Concerning standardisation of date citation. I am all in favour of standardising dates, but while computers can be easily trained to 'know' how to interpret a set of numbers in a certain order, I am afraid people can't or won't. Until the proud - I won't say insular - citizens of the USA accept metrication, and get their day and month in the right order, any attempt at having an international standard for dates and measures won't work. So my aim is to have a standard date citation that can be understood worldwide. That is why I ask for the month to be a word not a number. Then at least if the day/month order is wrong the date is still intelligible. Most people put the year at the end of any date citation so that's what I ask. I quite understand that computer programs prefer the year first so they can sort data by year, but people don't need that facility. I can certainly interpret your suggested ISO standard 2006-04-25 as 25 April 2006, but what about 2006-04-03? I am afraid it will be interpreted by some of the world as 4 March 2006 and some as 3 April 2006. I suppose we could all have a fridge magnet with a list of ISO standards but I am afraid on my fridge it would be lost amongst the ones telling me which garbage bin goes out on Wednesday, the ones with phone numbers for emergency trademen, some funny political ones, etc.

I should say thank you to all of you who are putting the date information in the manner I have asked. It makes it easier for me and prevents confusion.

This unknown life form, discovered by a collection of archeologists while unearthing a series of ancient ruins on a dead planet revolving around an even longer dead sun. So far it is the only one known of its kind, and yet has puzzled various races ever since its discovery, seeing as it has no known related species.

Physically, this life form has characteristics that are similar to those of both a reptile and a cephalopod. It has evolved a thick protective layer of overlapping scales that has proven so far to be indestructible, even when tested with high power lasers and other various cutting tools, and thus preventing further study physically of its internal structure. Its facial structure, which is predominated by a series of tentacles that, though lacking suction cups like those of typical cephalopods, contains a large amount of neural tissue. Finally, study of its wings that, while appearing to be rudimentary and frail, have been revealed to produce massive amounts of thrust via detailed scans.

Scans of its internal systems have revealed some surprising information. For one, the entity is not dead, even though it had lay buried in ruins deep below the planets surface, and was in fact in some form of hibernation. It was also noted that its brain was extremely well developed with rather large lobes which, if they are used as speculated, would grant the entity a form of powerful telepathy, and if was true, the entity would then be fully aware of their presence. Besides this, the most surprising discovery was that the entity, though it appeared to be made up of flesh and bone at first glance, was revealed to actually be composed of a substance that appeared to be made of something that was not all together created of matter.

This entity, whatever it may be, has apparently resided on this planet for millennia, as its crypt alone when carbon dated indicates that. It appears that a religion was based upon this life form, created by the inhabitants of this world before they eventually died out from unknown causes. Though little of this religion remains, having long eroded with the wear of the ages, what does remain has been used to provide a trickle of information about it, such as the former inhabitants of the world believed the creature would one day awaken, and that all would be "freed" by it, though what this means is unknown.

Part of the scriptures that have been translated so far have been used to help identify this organism with a taxonomy, as well as possibly leading us to other such temples mentioned, all of which may contain others of its kind.

Hello as every one here have been helpfull in the past at telling me what iv found im wondering if any of you know what this animal is, It was found on Portibello Beach wen the tide was out but was swept into a hole with the incoming tide hope you can help and thanks.

What size is it?

Might be a sea cucumber. They are echinoderms (like a sea urchin). Some look like cucumbers - hence the name. Others can look caterpillar like - which your creature does -ish

So with the fact the unknown is semi out and about(PTB) I like the look of them?...him? The voice really throws me off but well is someone able to explain the lore in just a quick and simple way? Because looking at it all I'm thinking is just parasite infected some guy and well he know kills. But I have a feeling that's not it.

From what I understand, the lore is trying to explain The Unknown is exactly that, unknown. Trying to uncover the unknown makes you it's target, and becomes a problem in missing people's cases due to the very nature of the creature. Most of it's addons also seem to be keepsakes or referring to people it's taken away and/or killed ranging from children to even serial killers (based on the sketch attempt addon coming from a boy and homemade mask for the latter.) It's Iridescent addons are also based on solid evidence or a documentary on The Unknown itself.

At the very end of it's lore, it's explained the Entity and it's mysteries are pretty similar but entirely different, even ending with the Entity taking it into their realm right before an investigator is killed by The Unknown.

Yeah I did a quick read through since the dbd wiki makes it easy to read unlike the actual game where the text is small the voices part made me think of skin walkers since they mimic victims voices to lure people in. Plus the idea that it's technically doesn't have a form by the looks of it instead relying on what it's next victim/s think it looks like is cool so I am thinking that outfit wise maybe other then the usual recolors and such it might have a legion thing where it will appear as different people hopefully they do something like Leatherface(minus the major problem that got the masks removed) and release an outfit or two of the Unknown but as for example Dwight just extremely twisted up.

I've actually been wondering if the creature we see in-game is using a 'Dwight' outfit. It's pretty similar, and we know The Realms involve multiverses due to Haddie's lore. It would be nice to see if this is the case, with future skins being the others.

I hope the killer's skin is different people, not just different outfit. It has to be, because the killer has so simple outfit, like a normal 9-5 working man. Can be men, women, elders, or even animals.

I have been musing this myself, if The Unknown is Dwight lost to The Entity, devoid of any hope. The visuals are there and with a bit of work all perks can be seen as corrupted version of base Dwight:

It's an urban legend and a cryptid crossed with an SCP. Its origins are a subject of debate and no one really knows what it is or where it came from. All that's certain is that it makes people disappear (its Mori reveals it turns people to dust and absorbs them), and witnesses are often traumatized or delusional (likely due to the venom The Unknown produces). Most of its add-ons reference missing persons and unsolved crimes and mysteries connected to it.
