Hello All

I am trying to add a Neumann KH805 sub to my monitoring system & I am having problems getting it to interface with the Neotek Elite 2 Monitor outs. At the moment I have a pair of PMC two two 6 monitors. These work fine when connected directly to the monitor outs. I am trying to add the Neumann sub to this monitor chain. What happens is when I plug the Elite monitor outs into the Sub I am losing everything between 80hz and say 200hz from the PMC’s. The Neumann manual says if the Elite monitor outs are unbalanced then you should use an active balancing box. I tried using a Sonifex and a second passive balancing box and these make the problem worse. In fact bypassing the sub and just going Elite monitor out - balancing box - PMC’s sounds like there is nothing at all below 800HZ.

I am sure my monitor outs are unbalanced although the xlr’s have all three pins wired. I briefly had a Genelec Sub in this configuration and that worked fine.

When I come out the stereo mix instead of the monitor outs  the Neumann / PMC combination works fine

Sorry for the clumsy description but if anyone has any idea what might be going on i’d appreciate any help. I don’t really want to return the Sub as I am sure the problem is with the Elite

Regards

Andy

An my elite, the CR outs A,B,C are a radio style button where only one can be selected at a time. I have mine wired so that A is my near fields and B is my Sub.  I have the sub wired up unbalanced.  I have to manhandle the buttons to get them both to engage. However, when I do, things work as expected.

I have also experimented taking the sub signal from the patch bay at CR OUTPUT.

on the schematic, the CR OUTPUT patch point is directly in front of the A,B,C switches:

This works well (also unbalanced to my sub).  Someday I'm going to hardwire my sub in on the back of the patch bay at this connection point, but not any time soon.
