Get the error Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml: All mirrors were tried with yum install docker-ce by following the current (as of 2021DEC13) Docker documentations to setup Docker yum/dnf repositories.

If you are using a Satellite server, and have added new repositories to your Satellite server (i.e. sync'd, etc.) and you are getting "Failed to download metadata for repo 'rhel-8-for-x86_64-appstream-eus-source-rpms'" errors from yum update on the client - one possible root cause of the error is that the newly added repository is not a part of the Content View that client systems are using. In this case, make sure the repository has been added to the Content View and make sure you publish a new version of the Content View.
hi guys, have you succeeded with it yet?I have just installed RHEL8 and trying to use Nexus as a proxy server for external YUM repositories.Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'nexus_baseos': Cannot download repomd.xml: Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml: All mirrors were triedWhen I do curl troubleshooting it seems like the external repo doesn't exist:curl -k -v GET _64/appstream/os/repodata/repomd.xml
I had this issue Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'rhel-8-for-x86_64-resilientstorage-rpms'I tried unregister and register via subscription-manager and setting subscription-manager release --set=8.2 for my release version, but still got same error, Even though I had 8.2 version of content enabled on host and as enabled repo on Satellite server. I needed to enable the version 8.0 and 8.3 versions on Satellite and then everything worked... not sure why might have been something else I did as well like sync content on Satellite server for this repo and then re-enable 8.2 version on both host and Satellite host. Anyway worked for me might help others...
I had installed a minimalist CentOS 8 on one of my servers. Installation went successful, however, when I tried to update the system using yum update I see this error message: Failed to download metadata for repo. Below is the complete error.
" -repo-1.hortonworks.com/HDP/centos6/2.x/updates/2.3.2.0/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 7 - "couldn't connect to host"Trying other mirror.Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: HDP-2.3. Please verify its path and try again"
Introduction If you are a Linux user, you might have come across an error message that says, "Failed to Download Metadata for Repo 'AppStream'". This error occurs when the metadata for the AppStream repository fails to download properly.
Metadata is information about packages and their dependencies that can be used by package managers such as yum and dnf. These package managers use metadata to determine which packages are available for installation, upgrade, or removal from the repositories. The error message "Failed to Download Metadata for Repo 'AppStream'" means that either the metadata could not be fetched from its source or it is corrupted.
When yum or dnf tries to fetch metadata from a repository and fails, it displays this error message. It indicates that either the server hosting the repository is down, there is no network connectivity on your system, or there is an issue with your firewall configuration.
Fixing this error is important because without access to metadata files your system will not be able to update existing packages or install new ones. As a result of this failure in fetching metadata when performing updates and installations using these package managers will fail. These issues can increase security vulnerabilities in systems as updates cannot be installed quickly or at all.
It may also be caused by issues with Yum cache or GPG key signatures. Other factors that could lead to this error message include issues with firewalls blocking access to the repository server or insufficient disk space preventing Yum from downloading metadata.
The first step in resolving the "Failed to Download Metadata for Repo 'AppStream'" error is to check your network connectivity and firewall settings. Oftentimes, network problems or firewalls can prevent the repository from downloading metadata properly. To test your network connectivity using the ping command, open a terminal and type in "ping google.com".
GBS is building packages in parallel and following error occurs when multiple threads are trying to modify the repomd.xml at same time after the package build. The solution is thread gets the lock on repomd.xml before writing and other threads wait for the lock to be released if the repomd.xml is in use by other thread.
I keep getting 404 errors in my metadata.xml. The artifacts are being downloaded from the correct repo but instead of downloading the metadata.xml a 404 error is being stored saying it couldn't get what it needed from a different repo.
The metadata for this type of repositories consists in a repodata/repomd.xml file index, which is signed (repomd.xml.asc) using a key already present in the original system. repodata/repomd.xml refers to other metadata file with their checksums. The most important file is primary.xml which contains all package dependencies.
If a repository is out of date, it means the local metadata represents a previous version of the repository content. You could try to solve this and fetch packages, but those packages may not exists on the repository anymore, and you will get an error at retrieval time.
