GPS receiver for Niichron

I think the GPS receiver for my Nixichron is dying -- again. Last time I ordered a G-Star IV with a PS2 connector off ebay. Can't find one now. I seem to recall it was only around $25 bucks at the time.

What the heck is the failure mode for these receivers? I'm on my 3rd unit. They seem to degrade, not fail abruptly.

I used to have a piece of software that would run on my laptop and talk to the receiver. That's gone as is the PS2 and any other serial ports on the laptop of course.

I suppose now would be the ideal opportunity to sync it from the web.... so if someone can explain that to me and sell me the required stuff, I'd appreciate  the help.
