Has anyone received anything from Ukraine recently? My last purchase has been sitting on the tarmac since the 14th of March.

Surely there couldn't be something like an epidemic shutting everything down?

No lock-down here...yet. 8/

I have been waiting on a PoE switch from the land of CH since then too.  Stuck in US Customs.  Hoping they release it soon...

I have a bad habit of buying stuff for projects I will never get to.

That said, I have MANY packages that are being delayed.

Also, not only from out of the country, but some idiots in the postal office are not even delivering packages from the USA.

Here is an example of that....
https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?tLabels=9405511899562863246717
Package from NY to WA.
Shipped priority mail on March 23rd.
Came all the way to my post office and the idiots held on to it for 5 days and the morons then sent it back to NY.
Like WTF?
16 days. She brought it back to the post office the same day (NOT paying postage) and then we got it yesterday.
The excuse was... My address didn't exist. I'm wondering if I don't have to pay property taxes anymore since my house doesn't exist? Although, it magically exists now since it was delivered.

Also, trying to track other packages, I get:
"Sorry, we're currently experiencing technical difficulties with our tracking application. We thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the issue. Please check back."

I don't think it has anything to do with the current virus pandemic, just that some Swedish postal workers have emigrated to other countries and have spread their working habits.... ;) we've had it like this for more than 10 years here....

I just realized that the topic title is ambiguous. "Shipment delays" sounds like a noun, like a I bought some shipment delays from Ukraine. I suppose you can purchase shipment delays from parts of Asia as well.

I'm seeing long delays from the Czech Republic as well....ordered 2 tubes from Dalibor, which were quickly shipped, but there has been no update since April 27, with status of 'sent to destination country'. Either it's waiting for a flight (most likely), or it's landed in the US waiting to be processed.

Anyone else having a similar problem ?

I finally received all of my shipment delays from Ukraine. The first of three purchases was the last to turn up. The order was placed on 9 March and it arrived on 4 May.

I just barely managed to give and receive feedback on eBay. It worked out to around 56 days and I think eBay forgets your purchases after 60.

I forgot to mention that the package was slightly damp when I received it. The cardboard was turning to mush in places. Some of the contents were hollow plastic spheres and they had condensation inside them. We hosed all three packages down with bleach and let them set in the garage for a week. Then I unboxed everything and let the contents sit for another week.

I need to process the photographs I took.

To everyone reading this: I will PAY MONEY for software that can archive listings to a set of local, offline files. Not a full-blown site ripper you understand, just single pages. I want to go to the listing, press a key and sit back while it saves the page along with all of the full size photos. Right now I'm doing this manually and I'm sick of it. I did a Google search for such a program and all I could find was page after page of sellers complaining about not being able to save listings for a long period of time so that they could be reused again later.

Note that I primarily archive auctions of Nixie gear and whatnot for future reference. Less than 10% are items I bid on let alone purchased.

I prefer a free solution but...

The weird thing is that none of this was happening at first.  It's only in the past 4 to 6 weeks that this has really become an exaggerated problem.  I received some items from mainland China in January and February that came quickly by DHL airmail.  Now all of sudden it's almost like some kind of punishment it almost seems like I hate to say!  Things seem to just sit at the airport or in customs it looks like from what I can tell.  Sad really because I know from experience they can move products by air quickly if they want to.  Where there is a will there can be way.  I've gotten Amazon items with 3 day delivery before that really came in 3 days!  All the way from China.

Expect long term disruption.  Many countries have serious border disruptions and passenger planes that used to be significant freight carriers aren't flying and won't be for a long time.  The new normal will not seem normal for a long time. You don't disrupt the supply chain that's already fragile and expect things to recover quickly.   The weakest links have been laid bare for all to see.

Japan post are quite up front. There simply aren’t the same number of flights, so economy packages are not being handled any more. At first (and this is what happened to my package), they were just stored. Then they started returning packages to the sender. Then they just stopped accepting them.

China is a different issue. Economy packages are making it to the destination, but the destinations are short-handed because of lock downs and no-shows. So again, economy packages will sit around for a long time. I have recent experience of this. My DHL packages from China arrived in days. My super-cheapo packages have been sitting in our customs.

So from other countries, you could get any combination of these things happening.

Yeah Paul I have some China DHL Express packages that just say shipping info received but in Hong Kong not China where they originated from.  I looked on DHL website and it says some areas are totally shut down right now.  I bought a semi expensive "FSA3011 OCXO GPSDO Atom Clock Frequency Stability Analyzer 2020 High Quality". Seller said it's been sent from mainland China but says shipping info received in Hong Kong.  I guess sometimes packages make a stop in Hong Kong?  Like I said DHL website says expect delays to United States right on the website.  Some destinations are outright cancelled the site says.  USA says "delayed."

I have several items ordered through AliExpress languishing in shipment since mid April. Some items ordered a week or two earlier actually made it through but everything else from early April is listed as delivered to air transport (or shipping) in mid-April and there are no further updates. My guess is that with so many flights curtailed, there are thousands and thousands of shipping containers stacked at various airports around the world waiting for flights to resume. I need some repair parts for a FitBit surge but at this point it makes no sense ordering since they will gladly take my money now but I may not see actual delivery until July/August.

Standard/economy international shipping seems to basically be on hold at this point.

Sadly I have a feeling my recent delays on shipments from China may be some kind of retaliation.  I buy a LOT from mainland and Hong Kong and recently I've noticed a big change.  suddenly everything has ground to a halt almost.  I'd like to think it's all in my head but since it's been repeated over and over again... I'm really starting to think the worst unfortunately.

I bought a fan at a liquidation store once that sold freight lost merchandise.  Inside the box was the original invoice from Walmart  with the purchasers information.  I sent her an e-mail.  She replied that it was declared lost in shipping and Walmart replace it about 8 months ago.

Lost in transit is a huge business and lots of companies buy contracts to purchase the stuff shipping companies cannot deliver.   I once bought a book that was on inter-library loan which was declared lost by the post office.  The book was in Spanish and about 200 years old.  The inter-library loan papers were still in the book and I contacted the library which was waiting for the book.  They gave me a reward for returning the book to them.

Latest updates for China shipments:

2 days to clear export clearance in China (Guangdong)
1 day waiting for plane
1 day transit to US
3 days to depart customs in US (Indiana)

Sometimes there are delays after customs before USPS has possession. At this point, it looks like 2 weeks from China to US, which is about normal from past experience.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No word yet on my package from the Czech Republic; last contact was April 27. USPS has not blacklisted mail from .cz so I'm clueless why it's delayed.
Question now is: Will I finish the clock construction before the last 2 tubes arrive ? The race is on.....

This past week I received three packets from China. Two were stuck in China waiting for air transport around April 7th (a third was last seen at a sorting center in Harlem when USPS accidentally entered the tracking number for a “U” untracked id and I saw it before they corrected the mistake). The third packet I received was sent to air transport on May 8th.

It looks like backlog is clearing.

Hooray my R|Z568m tubes arrived today ! Now I have 6 and I can build my clock.
The tracking did not get updated until after it left the USPS facility in New York (Queens).

So, no worries because you will get your tubes; it's just going to take awhile due to COVID 19.
Apparently, there's no commercial flights taking US mail, and it's getting sent by sea instead.

BTW, my final tube is serial number 10053. It's really incredible how many of these have been manufactured.

Ouch...

I won't complain about the 6 weeks or so delay I'm still waiting on from China.....

That's good Ian... I still haven't gotten my Numitrons yet!  Crazy long time.  It's so long my eBay doesn't even show the purchase anymore!

USPS website says many mail shipments are being done monthly in-bulk via ship, but is vague about which countries.

My friend in russia called pochta and they said "all shipments are in hold until enough to fill a cargo aircraft, 2 aircraft per week"

My five 6EP1 magic eye tubes were ordered on 25-Mar-2020 from Russia.  They finally arrived yesterday on 25-Jul-2020 -- 4 months !!!  And they were in fine shape.

I ordered a bunch of IV21 tubes on March 9 and they arrived on Thursday (16th).  (Over 2 months).

I’m having the same issue with China as well. – I even paid extra for expedited and it doesn’t matter if via standard post.

Last order from Ukraine was from July 2nd.

Shipped on the 3rd.    (Tracking
Tracking numberCP062286590UA
)

So, nearly a month and hasn’t even hit customs yet.  I figure I have another month to wait.

I just received some Nixies from Poland. Left the country on 6/24, showed up a few days ago. Tracking shows nothing after leaving Poland. At least they got here in one piece. Well packed.

I'm happy to report my purchase of VFDs from Kiev, Ukraine arrived in about 2 weeks. So, maybe the delivery process has now recovered.
Only took 1 day thru ISSC New York; in the past that was easily 5-7 days.

I also got some in-14s from Ukraine in about 10 days total, so that shipping path is likely recovered.
