Hi Folks,

At some point in our lives we come to the realization that many of these projects which have been on the planning board forever are not going to happen. I have a few of those, and for some I have a number of parts that are now surplus to my (more realistically updated) requirements. Since there is nobody in my immediate circle interested in any of it, and I don’t feel like going through FleaBay, I like to offer some of them up here if that is allowed. If not, please advise and I won’t.

The first item is a bunch (45)  of NOS blue GE Y1938 VFD tubes. Information about them can be found on Dieter’s site (http://www.tube-tester.com/sites/nixie/datvfd/Y-1938-blue/y-1938-bl.htm). They are rare, very rugged 7 segment VFD tubes with a standard 9-pin tube base. It fits in the same socket as for instance a 12AX7 tube. These VFD’s do not have a control grid, and therefore cannot be multiplexed.

I am not sure what their value is today, I cannot find a lot of recent listings for them, although at one time a set of 6 sold for $119 on FleaBay. That seems a bit high, so I would like to offer the whole set of 45 for a minimum of $225 CAN, (they are located in Ottawa, Canada) plus whatever shipping costs (including customs if applicable) will be to your location.

Please make offers to my PM only to spare everyone here the chatter!

Since I am not sure of the true value of these tubes, I will wait one week for offers, and sell to the highest bidder.

Thanks, and my apologies if this is not allowed. I just wanted someone on this list to have the opportunity to get them.

Bill.

Sorry to spam, but the reply-to-author options is broken (thanks, google-tards....)

Bill - If you end with a few leftover, say less than a set of 6, I will make an offer to buy them. I have a few of these for a future clock and need a few spares.

"reply-to-author" works if you switch back to the old groups layout and use a computer, the app on a phone or the new interface doesn't work as the moderators haven't unlocked the function (Google replied here to this question: https://support.google.com/groups/thread/65639632?hl=en).
