I'm still toying around with a logo for the theoretical NixieBase project. I need a really good hi-res scan of the words "Burroughs Corporation"  as used in their documentation and packaging so I can trace the capital letter "B". I'd like to have the "B in a circle" logo as well.

Scan parameters:
1200dpi or higher
8 bit gray (256 grays), not color
Saved to a lossless filetype such as TIFF, not a lossy filetype such as JPEG.

TIA.

I can't fulfill all of your wishes, but I have scanned images from a binder with what you are looking for (JPG, 600DPI and poor quality and colour). I might be able to produce better scans but the binder had been taped with some school book clear film and getting the scanner to scan with the reflections that resulted in was not easy.

My father worked for Burroughs sales/marketing dept in the 60s and I have old marketing brochures from that time.  If you have not found what you are looking for from the other fellas, let me know and I will rummage through to see what I can find.

I took the scan and vectorized the graphic.
The less than good looking vectors are direct translation
The image to the right is a cleaned up version.
I can split them if you don't have the software. just let me know.

(though I admit the cleaned up is imperfect - quick job.  if you end up running dry on other fronts I can spend more time re-creating).

Immpresive

I looked through several more of the 20 some odd registrations that they
did for various electron tubes, and noticed that several also had this
logo, BUT the JEDEC files just show it this small. Doubt if you could
pick up the type, although I guess that you would not want that anyway.

Wouldn't a scan off an original box work better?  I'll see if I can find a clean one.  I've got lots of original boxes.

Those are the first couple I pulled out...  Scanning a good one might be a little better.

That would work. Thanks to everyone for all the input so far. Keep it up! I have some ideas I want to try out.

Here's the first crack scanned with Epson multifunction printer I have attached to my home computer... wow I didn't realize how much I'd miss the AGFA Compugraphic 9600 DPI scanner I used to use when I worked for an in house advertising agency.  Terry that was the Mac ][FX day btw.
I have a .tiff version as well.  I'll work on some others.

I can try a better scanner at work but to be  honest I'm not sure it'll make a ton of difference as even this epson printer is picking up the printing errors ;^}

I uploaded a better scan of the logo to the group TEMP folder named "Burroughs-Logo-1200dpi-Greyscale-B.tif". 1200dpi, Greyscale and TIF.

Hi,

Finally I finished the vector artwork of the Bourns logo

Because I don’t know which file type you can ‘eat’ I send you a list of what is possible (see attachement)

Let me know what fits you the best. Then I can send you he files. The final size is 350 × 350 mm (13,75 × 13,75 in.), but you can scale it to every size you want (using a suitable vector program).

Extensions.JPG  nixis

Do you perhaps want to place the in the horizontal bar in the Bourns logo ?

Hi Eric

Uploading them to the group library would be excellent!

Cheers
