1978 Heathkit Pana (fixed)

After sitting on the "broken shelf" for more than a year I devoted a Sunday to fixing this.  Has not been opened except for removing this leaking NiCads since I built it in '78/

The culprit?  a near short 0.02 uF.

Don't you just love those Beckman Panaplex?

Time was slow and fast. Display flickering.  Power transformer was running too hot to touch.

Nice, I have a GC-1005 (I think that's what it is called) which displays just fine - it just will not increment time. The rectified timing signal is present at the Mostek chip but that's about it.
A plan is underway to replace the controller, I shall report on progress as and when any is made.
+1 for loving the Beckman Panaplex (and the Sperry, Babcock etc)
