Folks,

I have been working on the fiddly bits of this watch design. The
waterproof USB connector is installed, and the case now has an o-ring
seal. I also updated the computer to a 40 pin unit (5x5mm QFN) to
provide for battery voltage monitoring. The window is larger, to afford
a better view of the tubes.

The geometry changed a bit, but the overall dimensions are the same:
48mm wide, 51mm tall, 16mm thick.

I think the project has momentum enough to get another batch of
prototypes made. Should be interesting!

OK, I'm drooling. Any idea what this new design might cost? Need to
start picking up beer cans :-)

Looks like John and I have to get beer cans.  Going back to my favorite spot.

How are you planning to fabricate the case ?
  • Machined ?
  • 3D printing ?

So, will the USB port also be used to charge internal Li-ion batteries ? Gotta drink more beer, to get those beer cans !

The only job of the USB port is charging the internal LiPo battery. The
data lines are not even connected to the little PIC computer. I don't do
apps.

I suppose a clever person could work out who to do an entire smart watch
interface with two Nixie tubes...
