Hi all,

I've got a PDF scanned copy of the 1970s German nixie/vfd/led display bible,

Amateurreihe electronica 171 - Electronische Anzeigebauelemente

As published by the East German military publishing house!

Although it is indeed old, it has quite a lot of useful information about how to drive tubes in multiplex mode etc.  Please note it is in German.

The URL is here:

Its about 20something MB.  I do hope to get around to trying to translate it at some point, but in the meantime, grab it as a Save as, while you can :-)

Thanks David!
I can't read the German, but the circuits look good

I ran it through German OCR which did a passable job - it would be better if the document were B&W and the pages were not skewed. I can cut and paste pages into Google Translate and get meaningful English out. There are some errors, but you can always look at the original page and see what's going on, and paste the correct characters into the Google Translate input box. I also then ran the whole thing through a German -> English translation program and saved that as a text file. Here's a sample of what it looks like (in one of the better parts):

they are the product of accidental external events,
like radioactive radiation, cosmic cosmic rays or
Light effect - moved to the cathode. Existing primary

opposite. The number of ions is initially low and therefore also
the conductivity of the gas. However, the size of the flie

The translated-to-English text file is at:

Hopefully someone finds these useful.
