Apologies I realise that this in bits and bytes rather than hardware, but if anyone is interested in having a Nixie look on a modern smartphone, I put together a free - non commercial app:  Apple App Store - Nixie Calculator

I remember my mother bringing home a company calculator back in the day with Nixie display so wanted to recreate at least the look of the tubes on my phone.  Hope you enjoy.

13.1. Somebody please get me a new phone. I blew all my money on a new computer.

Will there be a macOS version?

Thanks for the positive comments.  I'll have a look at doing a Mac version.  The programming is based on the frameworks that apple released with iOS13/Mac Catalina this year (SwiftUI), sorry about the iPhone 6 :-/ I should have pointed this out.

A very good bit of programming to make it look real.

Well done and thank you

Nixie Calc is now available on a Mac.  If your Mac is using the latest version of Mac OSX (Catalina - 10.15) you can download the app from the Mac AppStore - link below.  It is also still available for iPhone & iPad (again using the latest iOS version - available on phones from the 6s on).  Hope you enjoy.

Greetings unb,

What about us Android guys? Seriously, after seeing your screenshots, i'd *love* to have that on my Android phone! Are you, or anyone reading this, able to port the iPhone version to Android?

In any case, well done, sir!

All the best,
Samuel

What about us Mojave guys? (rhetorical question—I know why).

In any case, well done, sir!

Nice.

Thanks, sorry I won't be able to move this across to Android myself, more than happy to help out if someone else has the motivation to port it across.

What development system are you using? Swift/X-Code or something else?

As a long time HyperCard user I'd go with LiveCode. Too old to learn this sort of new trick and I can just barely scratch the surface with LiveCode. If only it had existed 20 years ago when HC got "Steved". Jobs really blew the call on that one.

Hi,

I've been using this for a while. I've noticed that on my iPhone in landscape mode, the layout is a little weird - the numeric keypad doesn't have the usual 3x4 layout. I was wondering if this could be improved by using more of the height in landscape mode. This is what I'm seeing:

Thanks for the feedback.  I am using the brand new Apple software frameworks to handle the layout and the idea is they choose most of it for you.  The downside is a lack of fine control and trying to get more vertical height kept causing the display itself to shrink.  I have more experience with this now and will see if I can get a better result.

I've updated with a new version (1.4)  that has a better number layout.  Hope this is more useful for you.

Here’s what it looks like on an iPad. Even more functions!

I have had to disable the landscape mode temporarily, found an issue with the apple maths functions with really big numbers that I need to investigate.  The problem effect is only towards a billionth or so of a big number but still shouldn't be there.
