Let's hear it for a great Holiday Season (that is, if you are taking a break!).

Here's hoping that you either get to work on some neon projects or have time time to come up with great ideas for next year! Oh, and get to spend some time with friends & family!

On a personal note I'd like to thank all the great contributors, the givers, that we are so lucky to have on the forum - you are all just great!

There is a huge wealth of high quality experience here - designers, artists, electronic & software engineers, scientists and folk who are just happy in themselves and love that gentle orange glow.

We all have something to contribute - don't just lurk on the forum and please don't be shy - we all want to hear what you're up to! It doesn't matter one jot if it's on a breadboard, not pretty or unfinished, a lash-up, just an idea forming in your head - this is a uniquely positive forum - there is no such thing as a stupid question - we were all beginners once - we are very lucky in the wonderful & inventive membership we have. Let's celebrate that!

Have a great time!!

All the very best,

The NEONIXIE-L Forum Team.

That's pretty superb...what a novel use for some neon glow...nice job!

Happy Holidays/Xmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/whatever flavor of celebration is yours, to all.

Cheers,

Being Scottish and saving on postal costs here is a Christmas Card for all of you.

Print out double sided, I will leave you to work out whether it is the short edge or the long edge selection!

Have a great time over the Festive period what ever you do.

The art work is by a close friend of mine who created it from my description.

Hello.
Let me pick up the invitation to share a new clock just born on my desk, and a question.

It features two B5750 (external) and two NL5870 (internal) Nixies. The former two are used, while the 5870's should be NOS. They are driven in a 1:4 multiplex fashion with a voltage booster PWM'ed from Arduino (replica of Ian Sparks's design). Anode voltage is about 180V.

The question is: why 5750's have a background haze not present in 5870's? Is it just caused by the distance from the back plane? Notice the difference in the picture between the "1" on 5750 and the five's on 5870. It is not a picture artifact as I can see it with my eyes too.

Season's greetings!
Paolo

PS: it left unloaded, the PWM booster voltage runs up, up, up! Someone had asked if there's a way to keep it stable in last weeks. Well, I need either to load it with a Zener or continously adjust PWM parameters (as Ian does in his firmwares I think).
