That is quite some auctions he has going there. Never heard of the XM1000 before, plus the CD46? Sheesh.

There was an auction about 10 years ago by someone who had 16 of these NIMO-like tubes, but they were discrete and were shown being tested. I was bidding for awhile on the set of 4, but in the last few seconds the price went into the stratosphere, closing above 1500 USD.

This is the first time I've seen an actual PC board with these tubes. 

I recall there was some kind of legal battle involving the XM1000 that kept it from going into production.

It's up to $755.46 with almost six days to go.

This is the first time I've seen an actual PC board with these tubes. 

I'd like to see what they came out of. I'd like to HAVE what they came out of.

IEE did in fact sue them, and all existing XM1000s were ordered to be destroyed; the fact that a set of six survived alongside their original driver board is a miracle.

Which is either (in order of probably) 1) eBay bug, 2) shipped location issues, but I tried specifying shipping address as Germany and same reault 3) eBay is getting skittish and has hidden the listings for some reason (AI sees many high value listings). The link above works fine so it's an active listing.

eBay's buggyness on showing listings and permitting people to bid, especially on high value items, is why I would never have an auction on eBay nowadays. Last high value auction I helped with listing / orchestrating (not me selling thankfully) the seller had several emails after from people who couldn't bid for various reasons - e.g. one discovered it was due to them not having a valid credit card on file with eBay, despite using the site for years. Sort that in the last 30 seconds of a listing - no warning up to hitting submit bid button! The winner threatened and bullied the seller to sell to them for the price they won for, but I am sure they could have gotten a better price with a better platform (or just a high BiN listing with make offer button)...

Set "Item Location" to "Worldwide" and you're in. I've also seen this happen to some of the seller's items but not all.

What I love is when the seller has three lots of the same kind of item (I'm thinking of boxes full of spoken word CDs here) going off 90 seconds apart. No time left for any last minute strategy. That's a situation I go out of my way to avoid but sometimes you have to play it by ear.

The CD-46 and CD-47 just sold for 341€ and 556€ respectively. With the XM1000 tubes now being at 700€, this is certainly going to be a monetarily successful month for the seller.

Wow, but to be honest, 566 eur for a cd47 is a huge flop, they usually go for $1000-2500, cheers to whoever got it though

Still get no listings, even if I go afresh with advanced search, worldwide location and Vintronic as seller. Nothing.

What does work though, is using a new tab on the .co.uk site, being logged in on there and going to that item number, then viewing other items. The .com site as linked at the top gives me nothing under search / sellers other items for any circumstances.

XM1000 is a modified copy of the NIMO made by Telefunken.

In fact, these tubes should have been destroyed after a lawsuit by NIMO, because Telefunken ignored their patent. However, it seems that much of this tubes has been preserved.

Yes, that is the story as I wrote earlyer in this thread.

I guess not all tubes were destroyed. Small parts of the production ended im private hands and collections. Some items were for sale as ‘not functional’. 

I ever could buy one for my tube collection for a realistic price.

It's really odd there was a lawsuit over these magnificent tubes, because neither company ever got into volume production. Maybe IEE was jealous of the XM1000 because it's rectangular flat screen seems to be more aesthetic. I think LEDs and VFDs were the final nail in the coffin for NIMO tubes.

Despite their 'wow' factor, NIMO tubes are not very practical as displays given their size, higher-voltage requirements, fragility. IEE tried to market them as a lower-power solution than nixies, and that might be true when we're talking a few milliwatts, but it's impact is like spitting in the ocean. NIMOs have an intriguing color, and other colors were possible with a change of phosphor (Nick posted about his super-duper rare orange NIMO awhile back).

None of the getters seems to have been fired though, all working samples I've seen have had their getters fired. Would be nice to know if they work.
