Hello,
Can someone explain to me why these nixies are so expensive?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Pair-Burroughs-Nixie-6844A-13-Pin-Readout-Tube-6816-NOS-/331913365012?hash=item4d47940614:g:1fQAAOSwqfNXjqdf

Is it the date?

Burroughs 6844A aren't exactly rare if I'm not mistaken and the markings on these aren't perfect either.

Hello Alic

Its always the choice of the store how many an item will cost.

All "commercial" stores, will have high prices because their customers maybe need a specific part to operate a device.

Its like this, a special switch for airplane will maybe cost 100$ in an airplane parts store, but can be found for 10$ on other stores.

Meh.  That's just the Buy It Now price.  I wouldn't offer more than $15 each for them and only then because they are New In Box.

Round topped 6844's aren't reliable.  It would be better to run some used 5092's for a few bucks than these.

I still don't understand.
I thought since these nixies can be found quite easily for a tenth of the price elsewhere, such high prices would scare buyers away, since they have to make a strange offer.

Alsio, if I'm part of a company looking for a specific Nixie tube, eBay is probably the last place I'd look.

Could be a ploy to push-up prices; look what's happened with IN-18 prices during the past year.
