I have recently purchased a few early British Nixies on eBay, and among them was this unlabelled brown mystery tube. The only marking is 'KS' scratched into the bottom of the base. The seller didn't know anything about it either. I did some research and there are a few tubes that look similar (especially some made by Rodan), but I couldn't find this exact one.

Perhaps somebody here can identify it.

Thanks! I think this is the one. The foil that covered it probably fell off at some point. That would also explain why there are no other markings on it.

Thanks, judging by the way the end piece of the cathode stack looks like, I think it's even more likely to be a GN-2.

Interesting find! What's the dimensions? I am thinking perhaps a GN-5A by ITT?

The lot I bought also contained two GN-1s so it being of the GN-variety as well is likely. The other two are branded STC. Judging by the pictures Peter provided, I believe GN-2 is the best bet.

Dimensions of the tube:
- Diameter of the glass envelope: ~40mm
- Diameter of the base: ~45mm
- Length from bottom to tip: ~62mm

I, too, did bid on that auction but lost. Interestingly, they were recently put back up for direct purchase. I'm certain these are the exact same tubes. I guess whoever won them didn't want them after all. Very strange. Unfortunately, the GR10H they came with seems to be completely dead. It doesn't have any obvious cracks, but I suppose it must have leaked somehow.

This is the listing I bought them from: https://www.ebay.de/itm/276632762623

This is the old auction:

Yeah, I wonder how this guy ended up with these tubes. All of his other listings are for car parts, mostly tires.

I'm not planning to build a clock using those tubes. I don't think they contain any mercury so they probably wouldn't last very long in a device that is on most of the day. I see them as a nice addition to my collection and as a piece of Nixie history.

Sorry to hear about the GN-10. That's extremely unfortunate.

Oof.  I bought a 2006 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe off ebay in 2006 that had been insurance totaled in FL.  Shipped to me in NM, rebuilt it then rode it 5000 miles over 2 weeks through 16 states. Great trip with Dad and brother.  In the rebuild process I'd been lucky enough to find a new in box fuel tank to replace the dented one, same color and all.  So next to the bike in the garage I had 3 or 4 arcade cabinets.  I bumped one one day or something and the back of the cabinet (door) fell over on the bike.  Had the key in the cabinet and I guess it was unlocked.  Key hit the tank and dented it, chipping the paint!  That was over a decade ago and I'm still pissed about it.
