An idea for using the Cinch Sockets that fit B-7971 etc.

I was asked a while ago whether I could come up with a remote clock driver to use with the original Cinch Sockets for B8091 which could also be used with B-7971.

Accordingly I devised a PCB that would attach to the original 'Cinch' socket and then work for both tube types.

For a regular B8091 7 digit clock I used the 'PRISM' based from Ian Sparkes. I then re-purposed the same hardware to work with 4 x B-7971 tubes.

The result is my take on the classic FLW clock. This is a direct drive, 4 digit B7971 based design with time, date, temp, pressure and scrolling message display.
It also has a library of 2400 'scrabble approved' four-letter-words. The words are stored in eeprom.
It displays 3 words every minute as well as one of the aforementioned date/temp etc.
It has NTP Sync, Web Gui, Tube Underlighting and a socket for an external PIR or other motion sensor device.
The 'Cinch' sockets fix to small PCBS which then connect to the main board via ribbon cables.

During testing the tubes went in and out many times and I have to say that the 'Cinch' sockets are exceptionally easy on the tube - thank goodness!

@Peter, if you have the tubes and the sockets, I could make a kit for everything else, just send a PM if interested.
