Sorry, but a gratuitous use of fossil fuels for 1st world enjoyment, nixies or not. I know that sounds awful, and I don’t mean to offend, but shit has to change and fast.

Damn right it's gratuitous..... and FUN. And you'd be surprised just how popular in many non-first-world places.

That's very popular here in the desert of Arizona! Offroading, rock crawling, all kinds of off road fun!!!

And Nick I think they make electric ones and you could charge up with solar array out here.

Of course the solar cells and most of the parts are made in China with electricity generated in coal burning power plants I'm pretty sure.

All good points. On average it takes about 2 years for a solar panel to ‘pay back’ its energy cost for production....but the remaining 23 years (assuming a 25 year life span which is standard) is ‘gravy’. I don’t mean to sound like an old curmudgeon (I’m still in my 40’s!!), but as they say, no single rain drop blames itself for the flood.....

I was pulling your chain just a little Nick... I'm still really excited about yours and Grahame dekatron clock. This past week I got 4 more NOS GC10B tubes. I know it's going to be really awesome clock. In the interim I've been searching for original counters. I'd really like to have one with the dials for each decade.
