OK.

I've downloaded all the files from the Yahoo group and have placed them on Google Drive, currently read-only.

Can some members please try the following link to see if they can see the files please: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B93DAeV7sPGsT2RhQ0pHbVNMd3c?usp=sharing

That should be read-only access - you should not be able to create. Tricky for me to test as obviously I have full access.

If that works, then I'll create a shared writable "upload" directory and will be asking for volunteers to manage the library...

Can you report experiences/make comments ON THIS THREAD ONLY.

Cheers

Nick

...the TEMP folder should be writable by group members.

If this works, I'll set up a specific Google Drive account for the group rather than use a subdirectory of my own drive.

Total size is only about 80Mb

Good morning Nick!

Seems to work ok, I can navigate around. I have uploaded a file to the TEMP folder, removed it and then added another so it looks ok

Hi Nick,

You link tries to take me to Google Domain / Company Admin console - which fails with my gmail account active and works when my corp domain account is active (but to my admin panel...)

Cheers,
- Alex

The way that Google have set this up is that you share a folder with the group, i.e. neoni...@googlegroups.com

Thus, theoretically, anyone who is a member of that group has access, so if you're logged in to Google with the username that you used when registering with neonixie-l, you should have access to the share.

That's where you should end up.

Need to work out why there was a difference with Alex - he joined neonixie-l with a gmail account and if he's using that one then he should have had the same experience as you,

Could you edit files anywhere else apart from TEMP?

Thanks

Nick

I cannot upload anywhere accept TEMP. I appear to have been able to remove IClist.txt in the Chip Data Sheet folder (as a test). Remove appears non-greyed for all items it seems.

;^( Sorry

No problem - I have a copy saved :)

The odd thing is that IClist.txt is showing up for me with zero size, yet I can open and edit it !

I wonder if it just deletes "for you only"? Seems unlikely and overly complex.

Aha! From the Google Drive docs:

If you delete a shared file that you don’t own:

    • o The file will be removed from your Drive , but other collaborators can still access it.
    • o To get the file back, open a link to the file and then click File and then Add to My Drive.

Hi Nick

Overly complex as you say. Anything else you want tried?

Thanks - all useful stuff. Still need to be sure of what Alex is seeing and I need lots of others to test this.

Did you manage to add the file back?

BTW. We get about 15Gb of free storage this way. Using about 100Mb at the moment.

Cheers

Nick

I can still see the file and I've done nothing to reinstate it.

How odd.

OK,

This is a private-to-the-group Google Drive copy of the old Yahoo! Files section.

The TEMP folder should be r/w for the group (any abuse of it will be dealt with :)

Please check that the link works for you - the old link should now be dead.

Cheers

The moderators should now be able to edit everything and create/delete in the tree as required.

Please check this.

Please be careful!

The old link is dead.
The new one works.
However (I did not try it but the option is not grayed out) I could delete a file from the regular (not TEMP) folders. It seems it does not actually removes the file from the drive but only from my view but I'd be careful for now.
