I use the Azevedo NWTS hardware to sync time to various Nixie clocks.

This morning, after the time change, my clocks were an hour off.  Checking the NWTS configuration, there's nothing misconfigured.

The firmware installed is V2.2.  I looked on their site and found V2.5 which mentioned a bug fix for DST.

I downloaded and installed the new firmware on one of my NWTS units.  The unit could then not be reset and was unreachable.

I flashed it back to V2.2 was back running in a couple of minutes.

Has anyone here tried the V2.5 firmware with any success?

Morton,

I have over 20 of the NWTS units with 2.20 firmware and haven’t had any issues with DST switch.  It was a pleasure this morning to find all of my clocks that should have had correct time were switched.  Remember that all clocks don not read the GPS input in real time and some, like PV clocks check only once every 10 minutes and others like Yan’s early clocks only check once per week.  Clocks with good RTC chips do not need to check often.  Clocks that have inexpensive crystal oscillators are notoriously inaccurate without a GPS or wi-fi input have to update constantly to maintain any kind of accuracy over time.

You may be dealing with old firmware.  Manuel Azevedo passed away in 2018 and the product is being supported by a friend of his.  The current version of the firmware – to the best of my knowledge – is version 2.20 from 2019 (different than 2.2 from 2017, which was still early)  Here is a link to the most recent version that I am aware of:  https://twitter.com/azevedo_devices/status/1114888027657187329  It will take you to a dropbox file location.  One of the great features of the latest firmware is that it supports multiple NTP sources so if one pool is unresponsive, it will move to another pool.  Version 2.2 was replaced by 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 2.9 the last one that I have is 2.20.  It is unfortunate that the firmware was not listed as 2.02 because 2.20 is much newer than 2.2.  The official firmware release number is NWTS 2.20-20190210 which his friend released in February of this year.  Version 2.5 was the last version that Manuel Azevedo officially released.  Here is a screenshot of what I am running:

You can send me a PM if you want more details

Hi Jeff,

It appears their link to the latest firmware is incorrect: http://www.azevedo-devices.com/downloads.html

It seems I had replaced the latest (identical to your post) with an earlier 2017 version.

Your explanation of the differences on how various clocks process the GPS input makes sense.

This NWTS unit is running on a Mr. Nixie ITS1 Thyratron clock and updates to the correct time shortly after undoing my firmware 'update'.

Thanks,
Mort
