Dekatrons for sale shortly

Folks,

I have been negotiating with Billington Valves in regards to their Nixie and Dekatron stocks and I would like to announce that I will soon have quite a few available for sale.

These will include GC10B,  GC10C,  GC10-4B, GR10A, GS10D,  GC10D-tbc, GD150a, GS12D Dekatrons in NOS and slightly used condition with ETL and Baird Atomic amongst them.

In regards to the Nixie tubes I am waiting on conformation of available stock.

The reason I am entering into this with B.V. is that they normally do not deal in small quantities such as we require for clocks and displays and Martin of Billington reckons it would be a good idea that I could make available their stocks to those who would require small quantities.

I noted the prices being charged for GC12s in Ebay and I can assure you that prices will not be anywhere near that. I am not entering into this as a commercial venture but in the vein of making them available for members of the forum and clock builders. They will not be appearing on Ebay for auction but for direct sale from myself as long as the stocks last.

A quick conversion of prices would make the GC10s around $18 and the GC12s around $22 excl postage.

I am hoping to convert one of Mike's Dekatron Spinner units into a tester for them and hopefully be able to check each tube for operation.

If this post contravenes the forum rules then could an Admin please delete it, if not, I hope to let you know shortly what quantities of each are available.

Have you thought of a way to assign tubes to interested persons? FCFS basis? Name in the hat? Limited quantity per person?

Once I have the stock to hand I will publish a list here with the details and quantities available. Initially it will be small quantities but if the demand is there then I will endeavour to get greater numbers.

As to how it will work? 

I think the fairest way is to make the list public and have a dwell time of a couple of days for as many members to peruse it as possible as we all live in different time zones and visit the forum at different rates. Ideally it would then be on a first come, first served basis as people would then be able to have their 'wish lists' made by then and I will sort it out from there.

I am in Ireland so I would post the details at 12.00 GMT a couple of days after receipt and checking what is available for sale, all being well. As to packaging, I am looking at small mailing boxes with bubble wrap around the contents so postage would be at materials cost plus the relevant postal rates for the destination bound.

Currently I have agreed to accept the attached list of Dekatrons etc.

Those highlighted in yellow are definite, those in blue I have asked for consideration if this works out, the one in white needs to be stock checked. Further checks are being made for other items including Nixie tubes.

I have put the quantities and status as known just now on the listing. Pricing of the items will be listed along with the other details as soon as I get the invoice for them. As I said before, I do not intend to make this a profit making venture but to try and make them available in small amounts.

Please do not request any tubes until I have received them when I will post further details then and it will operate as I previously said to make it fair to all.

I just received word today that I can get a hold of 6476A Dekatrons to add to the listing, also some A101s, OG-4s, a few Z520Ms and some ZM1022s to add a bit of variety to the selection. It looks as though prices will be very favourable in relation to other sources. They will be shipped to me next week and after a couple of days to get things in order they will be made available to all interested.

here is the actual list of Dekatrons and Nixies that I received today.

There are quite a few NIB with the manufacturers paperwork in the boxes, NOS repackaged and Used, varying from slight use to medium usage. Some are just collector / museum pieces.

I have still to go though each individual box to check condition etc. Those I can test, I will, the rest are sold as seen but as they come from a reputable source they will have been pretested prior to stocking on their shelves.

All of the Nixies are NOS with 15 of the Z520Ms being in original boxes.

As I said earlier, the list will be available for all to view for a few days, I will get a list up with prices as soon as I have checked what I can.

I'm interested in a few working GS10D dekatrons! I have another four
Anita calculators to restore but I ran out of working GS10D spares...
Some which I've got were new and dead in the box.
Others are heavy used and still spinning...

Recently I bought a new in box GS10D on ebay. I've asked the seller if he tested it...
No he didn't test is but it was guaranteed good! I warned him not to be to sure about
these because their known to fail even n.i.b... He promised me he put in a used one as well...
Guess what, the used one worked and the new one was dead... (As expected really...)

When I replace the GS10D with a GS10C, it won't move at all in the Anitas.
I'm thinking about to figure out if I can modify the Anitas to use the GS10C.
Because somehow I think over another 10 or 15 years the GS10D tubes which still are
working now could be dead by then...

But still, I'm very interested in good working GS10D tubes!

Do you test them before shipping?

 

I also know somebody who is in for some working EZ10B’s and the original sockets (with loosely mounted contacts) for a restoration.

The sockets are also of my interest! They are named ZB13 = TSM-13P(Chinese). ZB15 is also suitable, two contacts extra, but the same dimensions.
