I guess it depends on the anode resistor. Also, the peak of 240V RMS is 340V so it might damage the tube.

I have the impression that this threatens not only the Nixie tubes but also the unfortunate people who will be using it.
He had to cram a resistor and a rectifier diode into it.

Putting Nixies behind a green filter certainly is a decision.

Yeah.  I don't really care for that or the red ones either!

I've had my eye on that one for some time. I'm amazed that it still exists. I'd love to see some of the stuff they're yanking all of the IN-14s out of.

I snagged this unit recently:

It's auto-ranging. Both decimal points light up in that mode but it doesn't work beyond that.

Ain't no way I"m cannibalizing this one, it's going to be repaired. I have the manual and a spare B54365. OTOH, some of the chips are pricey and I'm sure there are two or three in the counter section that are zapped. It has some corrosion and it's been worked on multiple times so there are bad traces here and there but it's doable.

I've noticed a lot of chinese translations calling led displays nixie tubes, I think it is likely just a mistake in translation

I think it’s done on purpose to catch people that are looking for Nixie, VFD, LCD, Numitron, Panaplex, and LED.

Also for bits.   4Bit to mean 4 digits/characters

Many sellers also will say a tube is for something specific like a NL5971 being for a MOD-SIX clock.

Sometimes it is used as a keyword. But I wouldn't say so in the case of things like rice cookers...

The Chinese scammers are doing this very much on purpose!    They print up and actively sell FAKE ICs that are nothing
but the plastic DIP package and a lead frame, and they'll stencil any numbers on it that they think they can use to dupe
an unsuspecting buyer out of their money with.   I have caught SEVERAL of them doing this!   Fortunately, every time this has happened
to me I always get all of my money back.   I am quite sure it is the same sort of a deal with the LED displays being called "Nixie Tubes".
They will very frequently also call VFDs "nixies".    There are a LOT of fraudsters and outright criminals out there folks.
And the longer we allow them to exist, the more they will proliferate.   These criminals need to be held accountable for their crimes.

Chill out. I am referring to the listing for a voltage probe with led display. It's not something any buyer interested in nixies could be mistaken or fooled by. You are right that fake ICs are a thing, but it's not relevant.
