There seems to be a flood of Nixie and VFD tubes on Ebay today with the star prize being this offer of 25  IN-18s at $46.50 each.

Usually there is only 4 pages but today - 10. 

Bargains like that do not come up very often there.

I've been looking at that, but the seller seems really vague if they are new or now. He says that they are smoky, but is selling them as NOS.

I've got an option on 8 boxes of IN-18 at $1250 per box. Seems really high to me. Would you guys take them at that price. Last time I bought a box, it was $700, and that's only a year ago. The guy also put in a few extras!

I have one box with 0 hours.  Just trying to make a fair trade. 

Obviously we're both kidding (maybe).

 

I paid about $1k for the box several years ago.

 

I am happy to see the price finally going up.

 

Noticed about 10 tubes with fixable poisoning going for $29 each.

Hmmm, 'not sure what to say about the smokiness visible in the side windows.  I bought some NOS tubes from a decent seller that had the same issue, but they seemed new otherwise. Maybe it really is a result of burning the tubes in at the factory.

i suppose it's possible.  The workers probably weren't paid enough to care.  :-)   ....and they weren't as special when they were still being made!

If my sickness hadn't recently turned to tiny Russia CRT tubes I'd have bought another set of in18s. Some day I'll buy a case.
