Best bet is ebay for price.

Might help if you had a target price, quantity, and your location.

I have plenty, but I can't beat down the ebay price.

Looks like they are about $40/each on ebay, same (rough) price that they have been for the last 5 years. I think that when I started with this hobby about 8 years ago, they might have been $30-$32/each. Oddly, IN-18's have been one of the most stable priced nixies in the nixie market. which might explain why so many price-fixing accusations are levied about them. :)

Heh.   Correct.

Since I paid about $40 each, I am not willing to sell less than ebay/paid price.

Only benefit/difference is that I am already in the USA with the tubes.  (Assuming a person in the USA wants them.)

In 2006 I paid about 25$/each, shipping costs included, for a set of 7 (6+1 spare) from Jan Wusten (Ask Jan First).
In 2007 I bought another 18 pieces from Ebay (can't remember the seller) for again 25$/each, shipping included.

So, where is the catch in this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/310407744076 Looks fishy. Of course I have no affiliation with this seller nor I ever bought anything from them.

Speaking from considerable experience; you must drive the older date code IN-18 tubes at beyond 5ma cathode current to limit the effects of cathode poisoning.
The 1980-1983 production tubes are a particularly nasty batch, tending to form oxides on active cathodes in spite of the excessive current.

The 1989-1991 production IN-18's are the best, and typically will operate problem-free at <4ma.

I had thrown away hundreds of older date coded IN-18 tubes because of recurring oxide poisoning or frit seal leaks.

I'll wager that Dieter also has a growing bin, laden with stinkers ;)

I have a large bin, but I trash nothing. (Ask Ron!)
I also have a large filled up laden. Guess what's in there ;-)

Jeff,

What about the 1979 (7905) IN-18 tubes? (I have a NOS bunch of them)

What handy information. Can any of you who have handled many of these tubes confirm (or not) these findings?
This alone would make a great 'sticky' but we don't/can't do the, bugger.

Ok, so now this group is right in the sights of the NSA, CIA, Echelon and whatever other agencies are monitoring internet communications in the U.S. — with this combination of key words it simply has to be a terrorist threat!

Especially with all these people discussing high voltages, gas mixtures, clocks, and worst of all — *cathode poisoning*!

I'm certain that I'm already on plenty of government watch lists, simply
from all of the suspicious packages that I receive from the Ukraine &
Russia...

Maybe those agencies will decide to use nixies in their equipment again! :D

By the way, how did Dieter get a hold of Bin Laden's genetic material? I'm curious to see the stage of development of the Bin Laden fetus, especially to see at how many cell division cycles the formation of the beard commenced..
