Yes, they use to be my "goto" board house. I used them mostly for multilayer boards (4 or more layers), and they did very good work. I haven't used them since ~2008. Not because of anything they did, but because of my PCB needs. I've only done double sided (2 layers) since that time. The smaller, and simpler boards, I have done at a Chinese board house (PCBcart).
Back to Accutrace. I've used them since 1995. Also, I had boards made by them, as long as 22". I did quite a few 4 layer boards. Only a couple with more layers. They did excellent work. I haven't used them, in a while, so I don't know if they've made any significant changes, that may effect quality. They do make process changes at times. Their prices had dropped, from 1995 to 2008, The time that I used them. I use to send them gerber files on floppies, and get negatives back, along with the boards. But that stopped well before 2000.
Once I find a good board house, I'm very reluctant to switch to another. I had a very bad experience back in the mid 80s, with a fairly large 6 layer board. Lots of internal shorts ! Had to blast them using a large capacitor. Worked most of the time, but a few IC legs still ended up sticking out, and rewired, externally. Good thing it was still "through hole" back then.
Has anybody used this outfit for PCBs? Accutrace inc, trading as pcb4u.com. http://www.pcb4u.com/a1ad77.asp I am asking, because they are doing a US $30 + $10 FedEx shipping deal (is this US only?) on ten double side boards up to 20 square inches, 129 square centimetres. This seems a very attractive price.John S
