Fellow neon enthusiasts, one of our members has built a great looking resource for nixie tube collectors and fans...

This looks like it could be the tube resource for those that want to grow their collection, get information about their own tubes or generally help the community.

I will let Adam (cc'd) provide more details if he so chooses.

Happy 4th to all those on this side of the Atlantic...

Cheers,

Nick

Nice but I can't see any pictures, aren't there any pictures, just data?

@Adam: Will you use AI-agents to trawl the other reliable Internet-databases that are already out there for more data and perhaps also photos?

I think it uses the A.J Franzman sheet , wich from my point of view has some issues, there are some obvious errors for some models ( mixed numbers, or used the date codes ) .

The site could be useful and shows promise.  It needs data sheets and photos to be fully usable.  Once that happens, it would be a resource that the community would go to.  In the meantime, there are multiple existing resources and search tools that will continue to provide the limited one-way information that most of us currently rely on.  To succeed, it will require more resources and effort to achieve wider use.

Agreed Jeff, I think it would help Adam out enormously with some contributions (photos, descriptions etc) from our forum members if they are willing.

I spent eight months digging through the depths of the Internet, searching for information to build this catalog. I'm sure there are still mistakes-it's impossible to avoid them completely.

To make corrections easier, I added an error reporting form (available to logged-in users). If someone doesn't want to create an account, they can simply send me an email instead.

Unlike many collectors' websites, I decided to include everything that can reasonably be considered a Nixie tube. I don't own all of these models-in fact, I don't even have one-third of them. My own collection consists of around 200 different models, and I originally created this catalog because I needed a better way to organize and manage my collection.

That's why this application is more than just a catalog-it's also an inventory management tool. You can organize your collection by locations (such as boxes, drawers, shelves, or any custom storage locations), making it much easier to keep track of where everything is.

I know from experience how difficult it can be to find a particular tube when your collection starts to grow. ;)

Adam, what are the top things you're looking for with regards to the website? Photos of tubes? Datasheets? There's lots of members here who probably have some of that and can share. Have you considered expanding into Panaplex displays (more neon....) or VFDs etc?

Cheers and thanks for sharing again.

I’m aware that there are a huge number of VFD tubes, VFD displays, and other interesting technologies such as Numitron incandescent displays and, as you mentioned, Panaplex displays. I’m the kind of person who can get overwhelmed by a very large project, so I decided to start with the minimum viable scope: Nixie tubes.

That said, I don’t want to limit the project to Nixie tubes alone, so I’m open to any suggestions and help.

My main interest is Nixie tubes. If I happen to come across other display technologies, I’ll gladly add them, but I’m not actively collecting or searching for them. That’s why I can’t really call myself a VFD specialist - or even a collector of VFDs and similar displays ;)

I’d be very grateful for any suggestions on additional fields that should be included in the catalog, beyond simply categorizing items as Nixie, VFD, Numitron, or Panaplex.

As a fun fact, nixie.yt is more than just a website - it also has two mobile apps:
* iOS: https://apps.apple.com/pl/app/nixie-tube-catalog/id6768043257
* Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.infodata.nixie_yt
