Hi all,

Since OpenShift by Red Hat [1] is becoming an open source alternative
to Heroku for private deployments, I was just wondering if there is
any plan to create a Neo4j "cartridge" for the OpenShift stack at the
same way there is a one for Heroku.

Regards.

I've signed up for OpenShift to play around and test it out. We do not yet have plans for Neo4j there, but will be exploring it for future cloud expansion.

There is a *lot* of cloud activity going on. Where would people most like to see official Neo4j support? I've created a single question survey:

Cheers,
Andreas

I'd be very interested in this one as well.

I assume so, yes,
putting this back to the google group thread.

Hmm, we can do that.
Specially now, with OpenShift Origin - the open source version of RedHat's PaaS.

Here we have a introduction on building OpenShift Cartridges:
https://openshift.redhat.com/community/wiki/introduction-to-cartridge-building

And here, we can dive into all available Cartridges:
https://github.com/openshift/crankcase/tree/master/cartridges

All data would be kept using the persistent storage capabilities
(like $OPENSHIFT_DATA_DIR) of OpenShift platform,
not hosted (https://hosted.neo4j.org/), like Neo4j Add-on for Heroku, right?

Hi Peter!
I got interested on doing this. I'll research more, doing some tests, and ping you guys back.

Like for example: how Cartridges dependencies get installed?
My guess for this, is that the answer resides into .spec file. But not sure yet.

Did anyone make or get a Neo4j cartridge running on OpenShift?

I think Hanneli looked into that? Did you get it working?
